As the 2021-22 school year closed, so too did the ten year span of Island Christian Academy and this chapter of Generations Christian Education's participation in the life of the 70 Bridges Street campus.
We are so thankful for each person who has walked through the doors of 70 Bridges Street since 2012, and we pray that each one would continue to be blessed by their memories of their time at Island Christian Academy.
As Generations completes our term of involvement with the 70 Bridges Street campus, we offer our sincere prayers for the future flourishing of all who will be educated on this site in the next ten years and beyond.

Sports Day 2022! We started this year's Sports Day with a whole school warm-up on the balconies and then each year group came down to the playground for their events. We had scooter relays, bubble popping competitions, assault courses, water balloon toss- everything you could think of! It was such a fun day and it was so lovely to hear the sound of laughter echoing through the hallways once again.

We are back! What a delight it was to see our students back on campus with such eager, happy, smiling faces! It was great to see the children back in the classroom and settling back so quickly. We feel very grateful to be back together and can't wait for the exciting events coming up in Term 3!

Happy New Year, 新年快樂! Last night we had our Chinese New Year Celebration, organised by our amazing Chinese team. It was fun and memorable event that really lifted our spirits, bringing us together as a community. The children wowed us with their artistic, acting and dancing skills and the teacher's didn't do too badly themselves! We wish you all a lovely and peaceful Chinese New Year together with your families.

What a blessed day at IslandCA! We were so thrilled to be able to hold our Carol Concert on campus yesterday and it was truly amazing to be back together, rejoicing at Christmas. Having families and children worshipping together has filled all of our hearts and of the hope, joy and peace that this festive period brings.

Service Learning in Action. This week some of our Year 5 children went to visit Kornhill Ederly Centre. Earlier in the week the children were visited by volunteers who helped them make balloon gifts to take to the centre. Whilst sharing these gifts, the children also gave a musical performance in which they played instruments and sang together, spreading joy to all involved!

Crazy Christmas Day at IslandCA! Our Student Council initiated a 'Crazy Christmas Day' as a way to raise money for a cause that is close to our hearts. The money raised will be used to personalise the Shine Kits which we have bought from YWAM. These kits include various items which aim to support cardboard collectors in our area. Our children will be personalising these and distributing them throughout our community this year.

We are getting ready for Advent at IslandCA. This Sunday marks the first Sunday of Advent and the children have been helping us get ready by preparing the advent wreaths. This week in assembly we lit our first candle of Hope and talked about hope that Christ brings us daily as we learn from Romans 15:13: “May the God of hope fill you all with joy and peace as you trust him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” We look forward to joining together each week and sharing this special time together in the lead up to Christmas.

We are having a Mari-time in Year 4! Earlier this week the Year 4 classes went to the Hong Kong Maritime Museum as part of their Different Places, Similar Lives unit. They have been studying the landscape of Hong Kong and looking at the importance of the waterway over the years. They had so much fun being out and about and were wonderful ambassadors for our school.

Developing service learning and student agency have been two things we have been working on this year at IslandCA. As part of our donations for the Box of Hope, each class were tasked with quality assuring the boxes and making sure they had all the essential items. By completing this step, the children were able to take ownership of the process and gain a deeper understanding of how their contributions will help the lives of others. We are so grateful to all the families who contributed and are very blessed to have such a loving and caring community.

Exit Points are back at IslandCA! We were so excited to hold our first Exit Point in nearly 2 years this week as the Year 2s invited in their parents to show off their amazing learning. First, the children got into groups and decided what they were most proud of from the Flowers and Insects Unit and then they worked together to create a stand in which they exhibited their work. It was wonderful to have so many parents back onsite and we can't wait to plan the next one soon!

This week has been Bible Skills Week at IslandCA! In our Journey 2:52 lessons, we have been learning about what prayer is and how we use prayer as our time to communicate with God. In assembly, the children shared their learning and then led a prayer to close our time together and thank God for all he has provided us with.
