The 23 students from St Louis School are embarking on a 10‑day exploration of Australia, with Brisbane as their focal point.
Before departure, they enriched their perspective by reading Bill Bryson’s In a Sunburned Country, which gave them a humorous yet insightful lens on the landscapes, wildlife, and culture they are about to encounter.
Their journey will weave together authentic experiences — staying at Bestbrook Mountain Farmstay, trekking through bush walks, gathering around campfires, and marveling at the stars during stargazing.
The adventure culminates at Byron Bay’s lighthouse walk, where the thrill of whale spotting will echo Bryson’s fascination with Australia’s natural grandeur.
This blend of literature and lived experience makes their program both an educational journey and a living travel story.
