Everyone has access to the exact same AI tools. But fast-forward one year, and the competitive gap won't be about who use AI, but how they integrate it.

Casually chatting with AI gives you a temporary efficiency boost. True leverage comes from managing AI strategically—treating it as an interconnected system rather than a basic search engine. To remain completely uncatchable 12 months from now, here are 3 essential shifts to make today:

1️⃣ 𝗕𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗣𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗔𝗜 𝗧𝗼𝗼𝗹𝗯𝗼𝘅

Meta and Microsoft have recently revealed more than 20,000 potential job cuts combined, while continuing to spend aggressively on AI infrastructure. Similar moves from Amazon, Oracle, Snap and even Nike suggest that this is no longer just a tech-sector headline. It may be a sign of a deeper structural shift in how work is organised.

From a MEICOM perspective, three signals stand out:

𝟭 | 𝗔𝗜 𝗶𝘀 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗷𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗮 𝘁𝗼𝗼𝗹 𝘂𝗽𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗱𝗲 — 𝗶𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝗿𝗲𝘄𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗹𝗼𝗴𝗶𝗰 𝗼𝗳 𝗼𝗿𝗴𝗮𝗻𝗶𝘀𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗲𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝘆
Companies are not adopting AI simply to improve productivity. They are redesigning workflows so that fewer people can deliver more output. The real question for leaders is no longer whether to adopt AI, but which parts of work will be redefined first.

𝟮 | 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗰𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝘂𝗻𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻 — 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗰𝗲 𝗽𝗼𝗹𝗮𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝘀 𝗴𝗿𝗼𝘄𝗶𝗻𝗴
The report points to slower hiring for entry-level and generalized IT roles, while demand for AI-related talent remains strong. This suggests that the market increasingly values people who can combine AI fluency with business understanding and problem-solving ability.

𝟯 | 𝗙𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗲𝘁𝗶𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗔𝗜, 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗴𝗮𝗶𝗻𝘀𝘁 𝗶𝘁
As smaller teams scale faster with AI, both organisations and individuals need to rethink what makes them valuable. The key challenge is not just learning AI tools, but redefining one’s role in an AI-enabled workplace.

For the MEICOM community, this is the bigger issue:
AI is not only automating tasks — it is reshaping the structure of teams, roles and career paths.

So perhaps the most important question is not:

but rather:

The AI boom is impossible to miss. Tools like OpenClaw, one of the most talked‑about platforms worldwide, enable faster output, leaner workflows, and instant productivity gains. But as adoption accelerates, one crucial element often lags behind — security.

According to the Hong Kong Computer Emergency Response Team Coordination Centre (HKCERT), cyber incidents in Hong Kong rose 27% year‑on‑year in 2025*, with AI‑driven risks and supply‑chain vulnerabilities listed among the top threats for 2026.

💡Here are three key questions we should consider during this city‑wide AI rush:

1️⃣ 𝗔𝗿𝗲 𝘄𝗲 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗔𝗜 𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗲𝗱 𝗯𝗲𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗰𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝗮𝗳𝗲𝘁𝘆?
Rolling out new tools quickly to keep up, but thinking the risks can be handled later, often leads to unnecessary data leaks or compliance issues. Before going live, take a step back to understand what data the tool will touch, who can control it, and ensure basic safeguards are in place from day one.

2️⃣ 𝗗𝗼 𝘄𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗸𝗻𝗼𝘄 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗔𝗜 𝘁𝗼𝗼𝗹𝘀 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝘀𝗲𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗱𝗼?
AI tools connect across files, emails, and systems in seconds, often faster than people can track. If no one can clearly show what information the tool used or changed, that’s already a risk. Limit what it can access, record what it does, and review that activity regularly.

3️⃣ 𝗔𝗿𝗲 𝘄𝗲 𝘁𝗿𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗿𝗱‐𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁𝘆 𝗮𝗱𝗱‐𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝘁𝗼𝗼 𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗶𝗹𝘆?
Plug‑ins and extra features make AI tools more powerful but they can also open hidden back doors. HKCERT warns that these unvetted add‑ons are now a top target for cyberattacks, especially in finance and professional services. Only use extensions that have been reviewed, approved, and checked regularly for new risks.

In the AI era, true progress lies in balance. Our real competitive edge will come from how intelligently, securely, and responsibly we ride this wave.

為了省錢而裁員，結果現在要花更多錢請人回來——這場 AI 轉型本來是想優化成本，為什麼最後反而讓預算大失控？

最近，有人發現到一個尷尬的現象：科技業正出現「安靜回聘」潮。數據顯示，全球近半數曾因為 AI 而裁員的公司，現在正悄悄地把人請回辦公室。這背後反映出一個殘酷事實：許多企業當初太看好 AI 的能力，卻沒想到技術落地的過程這麼難。這對我們在推動企業轉型時，有什麼值得反思的地方？

• AI 的能力其實沒想像中那麼強：很多公司當初太過樂觀，以為 AI 可以直接取代員工。但在實際操作中，AI 寫出來的代碼常常亂七八糟，邏輯上人類根本解釋不通。這種「黑盒」產物不但沒提高效率，反而增加了維護的難度。

• 高薪請人「救火」的代價：當 AI 產生的系統問題開始影響業務，而留下的團隊又沒辦法修復時，公司只好低頭，用比以前更高的薪資，趕快把那些懂業務、懂技術的老員工請回來收拾殘局。本來想省錢，結果最後付出的代價反而更大。

• 重新思考「人」的價值：這場風波讓大家意識到，AI 暫時還沒辦法取代資深人才的判斷力。現在企業的招聘方向正在改變，比起找便宜的替代方案，現在更需要的是能看懂 AI 錯誤、並把 I’m混亂的自動化流程理清楚的高階人才。

AI 裁員潮的「回彈」，給所有管理者敲響了警鐘：技術只是工具，如果沒有聰明的人去監督和修正，自動化只會讓錯誤放大的速度變快。
