【Master's Alumni Spotlight✨ | Sean's MRE Journey】

From finance to the CUHK Business School MSc in Real Estate, Sean Liu (MRE 2024) charted a decisive path towards commercial property. His time at CUHK ignited a passion for research — and paved the way to his role as a Senior Analyst at CBRE. 📊

So how did he get there? Early on, Sean was drawn to the programme's strong industry connection and applied learning approach. At the ULI Workshop, he pitched renovation ideas to industry mentors, gaining exposure to real world decision making, where commercial viability and feasibility are paramount. This was reinforced by industry‑focused and interactive teaching, which sharpened critical thinking and encouraged deeper analysis. Meanwhile, comprehensive career support — CV clinics, mock interviews, recruitment talks — had him interview-ready.

Then came the turning point. A research-led course taught by Prof. Desmond Tsang showed Sean how rigorous academic analysis informs professional decision making in the real estate industry. That led him to take on a Research Assistant role at CUHK Business School. "The exposure in research topics and methodologies really helped me stand out in CBRE interviews," he shares.

Together, these experiences equipped Sean with analytical rigour, practical insight, and strong communication skills—capabilities that support Sean to thrive in CBRE's APAC research team. More broadly, the MRE programme prepares graduates not only for research-driven roles, but also for diverse paths across real estate, from investment to consulting to development.

Sometimes the best career moves start with a single decision.

【Master’s Alumni Spotlight🎙️ | Eric's MiM Journey】

With a background in cybersecurity, Eric Wu (MiM 2023) came to CUHK's MSc in Management to sharpen his strategic edge. Today, as Deputy Technology Risk Manager at BOCHK, he delivers different solutions across IT risk assessment, information security evaluation, and emerging fintech trends — all while navigating rapid digital transformation in the banking sector. 🔐

The MiM curriculum, with its focus on evolving global technologies, gave Eric the strategic and digital foundations he relies on daily. But two experiences truly stood out: 🎯the Capstone Project in Singapore, where he worked with teammates to analyse complex business challenges and presented actionable recommendations to senior management, and 💡 the annual MiM Forum, which offered direct exposure to cutting-edge industry practices and innovation trends. Together, these experiences mirrored the analytical and advisory work he now performs in technology risk management.

Personalised career support also played a key role — from a coffee chat with Programme Director Prof Dora Lau to career fairs, mock interviews, and CV workshops — helping Eric better align his strengths with industry needs.

Eric's journey shows that MiM isn't just a degree — it's a practical launchpad for the digital age. 🚀
