IT’S OFFICIAL: THE FUTURE IS HERE!

We were blown away by the incredible energy, creativity, and passion shown by all 5 teams who campaigned to be this year’s student council executive: Spirit, Element, Wave, Soar, and Future.

Every single team stepped up with incredible proposals aimed at amplifying student voice, building a true sense of belonging, and boosting school spirit across our campus. From fresh ideas to drive student agency to proposals that put ownership right back in our students’ hands—you all showed what standard-setting leadership looks like.

Honestly? Every single team was a winner this week. 👏A massive congratulations to our newly elected Student Council Executive for this year: TEAM FUTURE! 🎉 We can’t wait to see Team Future bring their vision to life and lead us toward a more united, connected, and engaged school environment. Let’s make this a Year to Build Belonging!

Our 2026–27 school year is officially underway, and there is already endless energy & enthusiam on campus! ⚡️

Our theme this year is a “Year to Build Belonging「共築歸屬」(Gòng Zhù Guī Shǔ). From our orientation sessions to welcoming all of our new students and families into the fold, we’re laying the foundation for connections that truly last a lifetime.

Belonging isn’t just a buzzword here; it’s something we build together as a tight knit community, every single minute of every single day.

115 students. 4 cutting-edge tracks. 2 unforgettable weeks. 🚀

We’re so proud of our Student Innovation Lab held this summer! Students from across the globe (China, Singapore, the US, Canada, and beyond!) came together at CIS to push the boundaries of technology and learning.

From building in Robotics and coding in Game Forge to diving into XR Explorer and mastering AI Innovators, our students didn’t just learn—they created real-world impact. By pairing tech with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, they proved that being “future-ready” means solving the world’s biggest challenges today. 💡🌍

A massive thank you to our amazing staff, who spent endless hours preparing and leading this event, as well as to industry partners and experts who helped bridge the gap between STEM concepts and real-world applications.

The future isn’t coming—it’s already being built right here at CIS. ✨

What does the future of education look like? 🧠💡

Throwback to this year's Vision ’33 day-off schedule, where we locked in on our destination: our 50th anniversary in 2033. Our focus this year is the "New Paths Discovered Priority”. From reimagining our campus environments and schedules in anticipation of our 9 HYP project to diving into impactful PBL and future-focused IB+ pathways, the day was full of fun, collaborative energy. We aren't just planning for next term—we are building a school of excellence and innovation that will inspire generations to come. ❤️

🌊 From the mountains to the sea—an incredible cultural coastal adventure for our Year 8s!
Throwback to our Year 8 China Experience Programme which took our students on a thrilling journey through Yantai and Qingdao. It was a week filled with fresh sea breezes, rich traditions, and endless opportunities to serve our community, gain skills in Chinese, and develop a genuine understanding of Chinese culture.
🪁 Coastal Connections in Yantai
Local School Immersion: Forging wonderful friendships with local buddies at Ninghai Middle School through shared classes and a high-energy sports day.
Martial Arts & Traditions: Learning traditional martial arts at Kunyu Mountain and flying custom, handmade kites on Longfor Beach.
Future-Focused PBL: Exploring China's cosmic ambitions at the Oriental Aerospace Port and designing innovative park models for project-based learning.
⛵ Peaks and Sails in Qingdao
Culinary Mastery: Stepping into the kitchen at a local cooking school to master the art of authentic Shandong cuisine.
Sacred Slopes: Hiking the stunning, historic trails of Mount Lao.
Olympic Spirit: Feeling the wind in our sails at the iconic Olympic Sailing Center, experiencing the region’s vibrant maritime heritage.
🤝 Beyond the Classroom: More than just a travel itinerary, this trip was a masterclass in global citizenship. Our students returned with sharpened language skills, a deeper appreciation for Shandong's unique heritage, and memories to last a lifetime.

🌍 There is no such place as "away."
Our Year 9s wrapped up an incredible MYP Interdisciplinary unit, diving deep into Hong Kong’s waste systems—from textiles and plastics to food waste.
Through Education for Sustainability (EFS), they didn't just study the problem; they went out into the city to collaborate with local eco-pioneers who are designing a circular economy - shifting from a “take-make-waste” mindset to a system where resources are reused and kept in play.
The goal? To create change at the source, not the symptom. 🛑💡
By combining skills from multiple disciplines, these students are moving past band-aid solutions and learning how to use their voices and actions for true, systemic impact.

🌟 Biomimicry in Action: Designing for a Sustainable Future! 🌿💧

Throwback to an incredible showcase of innovation, sustainability and bilingual learning! Our students recently tackled a vital, real-world challenge: Help us save water!

To help a family collect rainwater for their plants, our young eco-engineers worked in small groups to design and build a functional water collector capable of holding water for at least 5 seconds. The ultimate inspiration? Nature itself—using the brilliant principles of biomimicry to solve the problem.

🧬 Driven by the CIS Design Cycle
Using the CIS Design Cycle, students took total ownership of their learning. Together, they:

Investigated how plants and animals capture and store moisture.
Designed & Built prototypes using collaborative teamwork.
Refined & Reflected after testing their collectors to optimize water retention.

🏛️ VIP Guests & Parent Celebrations
A major highlight of the project was when students proudly showcased their hard work to special guests from the Education Bureau, receiving glowing feedback on their presentation skills and scientific thinking!
The journey wrapped up with a wonderful Learning Celebration, where parents joined us to see the final designs, hear the students’ reflections, and celebrate all their hard work.

Two historic cities, nine unforgettable days, a lifetime of growth.

Throwback to the incredible journey of our Year 7 China Experience Programme, where our cohort visited either Nanjing or Xi’an in an action-packed, unforgettable adventure!

🏯 Nanjing Highlights
Cultural Immersion: Exploring the Nanjing Museum, Ming Xiaoling Mausoleum, and the Confucius Temple under perfect sunny skies.

Collaboration & Language: Partnering with local peers at Hexi Foreign Language School to pitch PBL projects, bridging language gaps with shared creativity.
Hands-on Learning: Crafting clay sculptures, practicing calligraphy, and even spending a day organic farming (complete with duck-raising and dumpling-making!).

🐴 Xi'an Highlights
History Brought to Life: Standing in awe before the iconic Terracotta Warriors, walking the ancient City Wall, and becoming "Junior Archaeologists" at the Qin Han Museum.

School Bonding: Joining classes and playing spirited basketball matches with local school buddies.

Global Citizenship: Working in teams to pitch solutions to local challenges and participating in wildlife conservation at the Qinling Science Park.

🤝 Heart & Character: Beyond the sightseeing, our students balanced their explorations with meaningful community volunteer work, returning home with sharpened language skills, strengthened character, and memories to last a lifetime.
