HKU Engineering is proud to celebrate the remarkable achievement of Ir Professor Paul Wai Yin P**n (BSc(Eng)-Elec), a distinguished alumnus of the Faculty of Engineering and a respected leader in Hong Kong's engineering and higher education sectors, on being awarded an Honorary University Fellowship by The University of Hong Kong.

As an outstanding graduate of HKU Engineering, Professor P**n's lifelong dedication to advancing engineering, education, innovation, and community service exemplifies the values and impact of our alumni. His achievements continue to inspire future generations of engineers and leaders.

We extend our warmest congratulations to Professor P**n and all six distinguished individuals who have been conferred Honorary University Fellowships 2025.

The University of Hong Kong held a ceremony June 17 to present Honorary University Fellowships to six distinguished individuals, in recognition of their contributions to the University and to the community!

HKU Pro-Chancellor Dr the Honourable Sir David Li Kwok Po presided at the ceremony, which is a means for the University community to thank and salute the lives of those who have made important contributions in their own unique ways to the University, to academia, and to Hong Kong.

Eleventh in the world, two years in a row! 🌍🏆

We are delighted to share that three projects from HKU Engineering have been awarded funding in the third round of the HKSAR Government’s Research, 𝗔𝗰𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗺𝗶𝗰 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗜𝗻𝗱𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘆 𝗦𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘀 𝗢𝗻𝗲-𝗽𝗹𝘂𝘀 (𝗥𝗔𝗜𝗦𝗲+) 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗺𝗲.

The 𝗥𝗔𝗜𝗦𝗲+ 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗺𝗲, supported by the Innovation and Technology Commission (ITC), plays a vital role in 𝗯𝗿𝗶𝗱𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗴𝗮𝗽 𝗯𝗲𝘁𝘄𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝗮𝗰𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗺𝗶𝗮 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗶𝗻𝗱𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘆 and accelerating real-world impact.

HKU IDS is honoured to welcome Prof Jianjun Shi from Georgia Institute of Technology for the next Distinguished Speaker Seminar at HKU.

Prof Shi is the Carolyn J. Stewart Chair and Professor at Georgia Tech, and a Member of the US National Academy of Engineering. A leading scholar in data-driven quality, manufacturing systems, and industrial systems engineering, his work has shaped how data science and system informatics can support the modelling, monitoring, diagnosis, and control of complex industrial systems.
