๐งฑ Lecture Topic: The Architecture of Housing, a Dutch perspective
We are honoured to welcome Prof. Ir Dirk VAN GAMEREN from the Delft University of Technology for an insightful public lecture!
The ongoing worldwide rapid urbanisation has once again put the question of how to design and build housing at the centre stage for both architectural practice and education
In the last decade, global issues of growing inequality, the lack of affยญordable housing worldwide and the consequences of climate change have become more urgent than ever. The question of whether this will lead to a radical change in the architecture of housing is difficult to answer. The architecture of housing today still appears to be closely linked to traditional patterns, both in terms of space and of material.
Prof. van Gameren will explain where these patterns come from, how they evolved, and the main spatial and material aspects of designing housing today. Through this lecture, the audience will be inspired to start thinking about an architecture of housing that addresses the necessities of today and of the future.
