和平紀念日虞美人花派發 | Remembrance Poppy Distribution

一九一八年十一月十一日，隨著康邊停戰協定的簽署，第一次世界大戰的硝煙終於散去。數千萬的生命在長達四年的壕溝戰中隕落，留下滿目瘡痍的土地與無數破碎的家庭。此後每年的這一天，世界各地的人們都會在襟前佩戴一朵鮮紅的虞美人花，以此悼念在戰爭中為和平與自由犧牲的生命。香港自一九四五年重光後，亦將每年十一月的第二個星期日定為和平紀念日，延續這份莊嚴的緬懷。

「接力與敵方戰鬥吧：無力的雙手，奮擲出火炬，望你能將之高舉。若你辜負我等殉難者，我 們永不安息，縱使虞美人花綻放/於法蘭斯德戰場上。」(《於法蘭斯德戰場上》(In Flanders Field) ; 邵頌雄譯)

一九一五年，加拿大籍陸軍軍醫麥克雷少校 (Major John McCrae) 為了陣亡的朋友寫下〈弗蘭德斯陣前〉(In Flanders Fields) 一詩，詩的第一行便提及在歐洲戰場上隨風飄揚的虞美人花。此後，虞美人花就逐漸成為歐美各國的「國殤花」，象徵逝去的生命，亦紀念了這段沉重哀傷卻不容遺忘的歷史。

長期以來，英國皇家退伍軍人協會（香港及中國分會）為所有居住在香港的前英軍人士提供協助，其中也包括曾參與香港保衛戰的退伍軍人及其遺孀和子女。

為延續這份敬意與關懷，由二零二五年十一月七日（星期五）起至十一月十四日（星期五），香港大學學生會聯院會將於各幹事會會房門外擺放虞美人花，歡迎所有同學自行索取及佩戴。同學除可直接向英國皇家退伍軍人協會捐款外，亦可在各會房開放期間，將善款放入捐款收集袋，由各院會幹事代為轉交，以實際行動支持曾為國家及和平付出的先烈。

點亮火炬的人，不該被黑暗所吞噬。
負重前行的人，不該被時代所遺忘。

英魂不朽，浩氣長存。
