四位來自中國內地的優秀博士後研究員——胡培磊博士、沈勝楠博士、王瑞鈺博士、王順民博士，榮獲 IoP醫學及健康獎學金 cm 內地頂尖人才 Fellowship（國家衛健委），並加入 HTI 教授團隊。他們將在衰老代謝、心血管疾病、分枝桿菌感染、類器官與營養干預等領域展開研究，使命一致：以科學回應臨床挑戰，以創新推動健康。 在 IoP 獎學金與國家衛健委的支持下，他們將在理大這片科研沃土上，結出豐碩成果，為全球健康事業貢獻中國智慧與力量。

Four outstanding postdoctoral researchers from Chinese Mainland — Dr HU Peilei, Dr SHEN Shengnan, Dr WANG Ruiyu, and Dr WANG Shunmin — have been awarded the IoP Medical & Health Scholarship-cum- Fellowship for Top Talent in Mainland, and joined HTI research teams at PolyU. Their research spans aging metabolism, cardiovascular diseases, mycobacterial infections, and organoids with nutritional interventions — united by one mission: to tackle clinical challenges through science and drive innovation for better health.

With the support of IoP and the National Health Commission, they will contribute China’s wisdom and strength to global health from PolyU.

On 18 May 2026, we were delighted to welcome Dr Karen Thomson, Associate Dean (International) of the School of Health and Life Sciences at Glasgow Caledonian University (GCU), to PolyU School of Nursing (SN) and HTI. This visit aimed to deepen our academic exchange and explore opportunities for future collaboration. 🌏🫱🏻‍🫲🏻

During her visit, Dr Thomson toured HTI’s Radiography and Medical Laboratory Science laboratories 🔬📸, experiencing our state-of-the-art teaching and research facilities. She also learned more about our admissions and teaching environment, laying a solid foundation for future student exchange programmes.

2026年5月9日，HTI代表獲邀出席「2026年浙江省數理醫學學會人工智能賦能的放射腫瘤學實踐——聚焦前列腺癌診治學術論壇」及「浙江省抗癌協會放射物理技術專業委員會2026年學術年會」。會上，HTI系主任蔡璟教授及黎田教授分別發表《定量磁共振引導放療技術的研發與驗證》主題演講，分享醫學影像與精準放射治療結合的最新研究成果，推動人工智能於臨床治療中的創新應用。

活動期間，理大與浙江大學醫學院附屬第一醫院正式簽署合作備忘錄（MoU），確立雙方於醫學與資訊工程融合發展領域的合作框架，涵蓋科研合作、人才培育、學術交流及成果轉化等方向。

是次交流及簽約，進一步深化浙港兩地於智慧醫療及精準醫學領域的合作基礎，攜手推動醫療科技創新與臨床轉化發展。

On 9 May 2026, representatives from HTI were invited to participate in the “2026 Zhejiang Society of Mathematical Medicine Forum on AI-Enabled Radiation Oncology Practice — Focus on Prostate Cancer Diagnosis and Treatment” and the “2026 Academic Annual Meeting of the Radiological Physics Technology Committee of Zhejiang Anti-Cancer Association”. During the conferences, Prof. CAI Jing, Head of HTI, and Prof. LI Tian delivered presentations on the development and validation of quantitative MRI-guided radiotherapy technologies, showcasing recent advances in precision radiotherapy and AI-assisted clinical applications.

During the visit, PolyU formally signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the First Affiliated Hospital, Zhejiang University School of Medicine, establishing a collaborative framework in medical-information engineering integration, including joint research, talent development, academic exchange, and translational innovation.

📍 Looking Ahead
The exchange and MoU signing further strengthened Zhejiang–Hong Kong collaboration in smart healthcare and precision medicine, fostering future innovation in medical technology and clinical translation.

PolyU has officially launched a cooperation project with the Administrative Committee of Songjiang Economic and Technological Development Zone and Hang Seng Cloud Valley Enterprise Management (Shanghai) Co., Ltd.

This milestone highlights the role of PolyU HTI, which, leveraging its internationally recognized strengths in teaching and research, will collaborate with Songjiang District and Hang Seng Cloud Valley to advance the deep integration of government, academia, industry, and healthcare (“産學研醫”). The partnership is designed to strengthen regional healthcare service capacity and nurture globally oriented, high-level medical technology talent, laying a solid foundation for a new ecosystem of international collaboration and scientific innovation.

2026 年 5 月 5 日晚上，放射學白袍及頒獎典禮於林植豪演講廳圓滿落幕。🥼🏆

典禮上，臨床導師為披上白袍的本科二年級生佩戴輻射劑量計（TLD），象徵正式展開臨床實習；本科四年級生則獲頒獎項，表彰其卓越表現。隨後，全體學生莊嚴宣誓，承諾堅守醫學倫理與對生命的囑託。

On the evening of May 5, 2026, the Radiography White Coat and Award Ceremony was successfully held at the Lam Chik Ho Lecture Theatre. 🥼🏆

During the ceremony, clinical educators presented Year 2 students with their radiation dosimeters (TLDs) as they donned their white coats, officially marking the beginning of their clinical placements. Meanwhile, Year 4 students were recognized for their outstanding achievements. All students then took a pledge, reaffirming their commitment to medical ethics and patient care.

最近，由理大 HTI 的金靈教授、梁杏媚教授，及周弘毅博士領導的研究團隊分別揭示了城市空氣微生物所帶來的潛在健康風險：

1️⃣ PM2.5 中的細菌內毒素佔比不足 0.0001%，卻足以引發高達 17% 的人體呼吸道發炎反應！
2️⃣ 城市空氣中檢測出具備多重抗藥性的真菌（念珠菌），這意味著市民在日常呼吸時，可能不知不覺將抗藥性真菌吸入體內。

未來，團隊將致力於識別 PM2.5 中其他具致病效應的微生物毒素並追蹤其源頭，及精準識別城市特有的真菌儲存庫，為全球公共衞生貢獻力量。🌏💪🏻

Recently, research teams led by Prof. Nathanael JIN, Prof. Polly LEUNG, and Dr Franklin CHOW from PolyU HTI have revealed the potential health risks posed by urban airborne microbes:
1️⃣ Bacterial endotoxins make up less than 0.0001% of the total mass of PM2.5, yet they are potent enough to trigger up to 17% of human respiratory inflammatory responses!
2️⃣ Multidrug-resistant fungi (Candida) have been detected in urban air, meaning the general public may unknowingly inhale these drug-resistant fungi simply through daily breathing.
Moving forward, the team will focus on identifying other pathogenic microbial toxins in PM2.5 and tracing their sources, as well as precisely pinpointing urban-specific fungal reservoirs, contributing to global public health. 🌏💪🏻

On 23 April 2026, a seven-member delegation from HTI visited CUHK-Shenzhen Medical Centre for an in-depth exchange, aiming to strengthen collaboration between PolyU and CUHKSZ Medical Centre in the areas of medical laboratory science, medical imaging, radiotherapy, medical data science, and translational research.🫱🏻‍🫲🏻

Looking ahead, both institutions plan to establish joint research platforms, develop postgraduate co-supervision and clinical placement opportunities, enhance academic exchange, and build a coordinated pathway to translate research outcomes into clinical applications and potential industrial development.🌟

Recently, Prof. CAI Jing, Head of HTI, led a delegation to Shenzhen to visit BGI Space-Time Center for a half-day program.

This visit aimed to enhance mutual understanding at the knowledge and research levels, particularly in cutting-edge areas such as medical physics, intelligent oncology, systems biology, artificial intelligence, diagnostic sciences, and molecular genetics.

This visit not only further strengthened institutional ties between HTI and BGI Group but also established a foundation for future collaboration in advanced medical technology and transnational research.
