The “AI Adventures: When AI Meets Games with Tencent” programme, co-created by HKU Academy for the Talented, LIGHTSPEED STUDIOS, and Tencent WeTech Academy, officially launched today!

𝗗𝗮𝘆 𝟭 opened with the welcome address of Dr. Elizabeth Ho, Assistant Dean (Student Experience) and Director of MAES (Literature), School of English, Faculty of Arts, HKU, followed by the session of Dr. Kal Ng (Professional Practitioner) from the Faculty of Arts, HKU, on historical game-world design — a reminder, right from the start, that this programme isn’t just about picking up AI tools. It’s about learning how to build worlds with them. Students from different parts of the world joined the room today, and the conversations on Day 1 were already full of unexpected energy.

LIGHTSPEED STUDIOS engineers will take over for the next four days, leading hands-on sessions in AI image generation, 3D modeling, animation, and intelligent agents. We’re here to spark the curiosity and creativity of the next generation! Stay tuned!

From Aug 10th to 14th, ”AI Adventures: When AI Meets Games with Tencent“ — co-created by the HKU Academy for the Talented, Tencent WeTech Academy, and LIGHTSPEED STUDIOS — is back for its third year!

This year’s cohort spans more regions than ever, bringing fresh perspectives from around the world into the room. We‘re also introducing AI tools with traditional Chinese cultural aesthetics for the first time — letting culture and technology find each other in unexpected ways.

The programme covers AI image generation, 3D modeling, animation, intelligent agents, and data mining. Industry experts lead the hands-on sessions; HKU’s Faculty of Arts professors bring the academic lens on game-world design. The exploration starts Aug 10.

8月10日至14日，香港大學「菁英聚‧港大」全球優秀中學生精英計劃（HKU Academy for the Talented）聯同Tencent WeTech Academy，及全球熱門遊戲研發團隊光子工作室群，聯合打造的「AI冒險之旅：當人工智能遇見遊戲」迎來第三年！

今年，課程在學生組成上更上一層樓——來自世界各地的中學生將帶著各自的視角，共同探索AI如何改變遊戲開發的每一個環節。課程今年亦融入更多中國傳統文化元素到課程工具之中，讓技術與文化在課堂上碰撞出意想不到的火花。

課程涵蓋AI圖像生成、3D建模、動畫製作、智能體設計及數據挖掘，由業界專家帶領學生在實操中掌握技能、在案例中感受AI的真實力量。香港大學文學院教授亦將從學術視角為學生帶來關於遊戲空間設計與AI人文交匯的精彩講解。

This summer, we were delighted to collaborate with the Faculty of Arts on AI and the Future of Humanity — a programme that tackled one of the biggest questions of our time: what does it mean to be human in an age of intelligent machines? 🤖

Over 5 days, students explored:

The highlight? The group presentations — where teams presented bold, human-centred AI futures. The depth of the conversations was truly inspiring. 💡

Five days, a journey across the full spectrum of healthcare — from public health to nursing, traditional Chinese medicine to biomedical engineering, AI in medicine to mental health. 🧠✨

🌍 𝗗𝗮𝘆 𝟭 kicked off with orientation and a visit to the 𝗛𝗞 𝗠𝘂𝘀𝗲𝘂𝗺 𝗼𝗳 𝗠𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗦𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲𝘀 — tracing Hong Kong's healing history and setting the stage for the week ahead.

🩺 𝗗𝗮𝘆 𝟮 featured 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗳. 𝗣𝗛 𝗖𝗵𝘂𝗻𝗴 on the "𝗢𝗱𝘆𝘀𝘀𝗲𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗮 𝗣𝘂𝗯𝗹𝗶𝗰 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵 𝗣𝗵𝘆𝘀𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗻" — taking students to the global stage — followed by 𝗗𝗿. 𝗠𝗶𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗲𝗹 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗼'𝘀 taster session on 𝗕𝗶𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗦𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲𝘀, introducing them to the fascinating world of BBMS.

🦠 𝗗𝗮𝘆 𝟯 tackled antimicrobial resistance as a 𝗨𝗡 𝗴𝗹𝗼𝗯𝗮𝗹 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵 𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗿𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗰𝘆 with 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗳. 𝗣𝗛 𝗖𝗵𝘂𝗻𝗴, explored 𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘀𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 with 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗳. 𝗡𝗴 𝗦𝗶𝘂 𝗠𝗮𝗻, and delved into the 𝗿𝗼𝗹𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗱𝗼𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘀 in the community with 𝗛𝗲𝗶 𝗟𝗼𝗸 𝗘𝗺𝗺𝗮𝗻𝘂𝗲𝗹 𝗖𝗵𝗲𝘂𝗻𝗴 — reminding students that medicine is about humility, compassion, and learning from our mistakes. 💡

🤖 𝗗𝗮𝘆 𝟰 brought 𝗔𝗜 𝗶𝗻 𝗠𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗻𝗲 with 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗳. 𝗝𝗼𝘀𝗵𝘂𝗮 𝗛𝗼, followed by an inspiring nursing session with 𝗗𝗿. 𝗝𝗼𝗮𝗻𝗻𝗮 𝗞𝗼 in the 𝗦𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗼𝗼𝗻 𝗥𝗼𝗮𝗱 𝗠𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗖𝗮𝗺𝗽𝘂𝘀— where students experienced lab skills tasting, VR experiences, and learned what it truly means to support patients along their journey.

🔬 𝗗𝗮𝘆 𝟱 wrapped up with 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗳. 𝗦𝗵𝗶𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗭𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴 on 𝗕𝗶𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗘𝗻𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 and 𝗙𝗹𝗲𝘅𝗶𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗕𝗶𝗼𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗶𝗰𝘀, 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗳. 𝗝𝗼𝘀𝗲𝗽𝗵 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗻 on 𝗔𝗥 𝘁𝗲𝗰𝗵 and 𝗠𝗶𝗰𝗿𝗼𝗳𝗹𝘂𝗶𝗱𝗶𝗰𝘀 for eye-related diseases — and finally, group presentations where students synthesized everything they learned and proposed innovative solutions to real-world healthcare challenges. 👏

From Day 1 to Day 5, our students went from curious beginners to confident roboticists, mastering the tech that's shaping our future. 🦾

🔧 𝗥𝗢𝗦 (𝗥𝗼𝗯𝗼𝘁𝗶𝗰𝘀 𝗢𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗦𝘆𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗺) — They coded, commanded, and controlled like pros, proving that robotics is as much software smarts as hardware skills.

📱 𝗥𝗲𝗺𝗼𝘁𝗲 𝗔𝗽𝗽 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗹 — Precision became second nature as they navigated their rovers with seamless, fingertip command.

🎯 𝗩𝗶𝘀𝘂𝗮𝗹 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗰𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 — Watching their rovers lock onto targets autonomously? That's the moment everything clicked.

🗺️ 𝗟𝗶𝗱𝗮𝗿 𝗠𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗴 & 𝗢𝗯𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗰𝗹𝗲 𝗔𝘃𝗼𝗶𝗱𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 # — They mapped environments, dodged obstacles, and made their rovers "see" the world — one scan at a time.

But beyond the tech, we saw something special: high-fives over breakthroughs, "aha!" moments born from curiosity, and teamwork that turned challenges into shared wins. Shy questions became bold solutions. Setbacks became stepping stones.
