[𝗔𝗱𝘃𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗩𝗥 𝗦𝗲𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵 𝗨𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗱𝘂𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵]
As virtual reality continues to transform gaming 🎮, education and entertainment, new security challenges are emerging. To help address these issues, our 2025 Computer Science graduate, Gengyang Xu, worked with Professor Henry Dai and international 🌎 collaborators to develop VR-Themis, a scalable framework for detecting cloned VR applications.

The research📃 has been recognised through its acceptance at the 29th International Symposium on Research in Attacks, Intrusions and Defenses (RAID 2026), one of the world's leading conferences in computer security.

Building on this achievement, he has begun his PhD studies at HKUST with a fully funded scholarship. 👏🏻 Congratulations to Gengyang and we wish him every success in his future research journey💫.

Artificial intelligence and empathy came together at this year’s AI for Mental Health Challenge, where 100 senior secondary students explored how technology can help address real-world mental health challenges🙌🏻.

Throughout an action-packed day, participants learned from experts, developed AI-powered solutions💻, and presented their ideas to a distinguished judging panel. Their creativity, passion and commitment to social impact were truly inspiring.

🎉Congratulations to Professor Jianliang Xu and our PhD alumnus Dr. Yun Peng, who, together with their collaborators, received the Best Research Paper Award Honourable Mention at ACM KDD 2026.

Their paper📃, “EARTH: Accelerating Spatiotemporal Network K-function-based Analytics”, was recognised among the conference’s highest honours, ranking among the top three awards selected from more than 2,000 submissions worldwide.

This outstanding achievement reflects the global impact of our research and the strength of collaboration 🌐 among faculty members, students and alumni in advancing innovation in data science.
