1970 under the sponsorship of the Divine Word Missionaries. Canavan's able leadership, Sing Yin quickly developed into a top quality school where students can receive a good, all-around education. Sing Yin Secondary School gets its name from the Bible. The Gospel of John opens with the words "In the beginning was the Word". This "Word" refers to the Sons of God who became man in the person of Jesus Christ. For Christian, He is the Way, the Truth and the Life. Sing Yin is a Catholic school and, following the teaching of Jesus, special emphasis is given to moral education and community service. In this way, Sing Yin aims to give its students the best possible set of values by which to live a meaningful life and, at the same time, to become true pillars of society. Houses
At the time of admission, each student is appointed to join one of the four houses randomly. Every year, the four houses compete with one another in the annual big competitions such as Sports Day, Swimming Gala and Music Contest, to see which house would be the annual overall champion. The Houses' names are as follows:

Green House (G)
Yellow House (Y)
MISSION STATEMENT

Sing Yin Secondary School, which has its origin in the mission of the Church, has as its fundamental goal the complete and integral human development of each student: mind and spirit, body and emotion (as understood in the light of John 10:10)
Sing Yin is committed to helping students to live a "full life" by:
- promoting the spiritual and moral, intellectual and emotional,cultural, social and physical development of the students
- preparing our students for the challenges and responsibilities of adult life
- guiding our students, in the spirit of our school motto "克明峻德", to discover Christian valves and beliefs, and the meaning of life
Through these measures, we hope that students will live a healthy, affluent and meaningful life.

The 44th International Physics Olympiad was held on 7th July to 15th July in Copenhagen, Denmark. 83 delegates from all over the world, with 381 contestants participated in the competition. Tam Pok Man, a F5 student of Sing Yin won a Silver Medal.
