My Story

Born in HK, I was brought up in Canada for more than 10 years before moving back to HK. I have started tutoring English part-time since then. I studied an intensive module on Drama-in-education at UCE, U.K., where I experienced the power of experiential learning. I am also dedicated to teaching children with special needs and learning difficulties as I had experience working with these c

Soap making

We spent time making soap today and some story reading. We talked about what to put in our soap and children had different ideas and how to make it happen. Sorry, we didn’t take a lot of pictures in between. They needed close supervision while making soap. Sorry these aren’t great pictures. They are just to let you know their progress and what’s happening during classes. Just didn’t want to waste time taking pictures. We baked fried at the end. Fabulous day

So fun to watch how it pops!

We had a wonderful morning. I was totally exhausted after spending 1.5 hours constantly talking to my students. They were so excited seeing the kernels popped, digging in the fossil stones and looking for treasures. Of course, they finished eating them with 5 minutes. We made caramel (sorry no picture because I need to pay attention to the extremely hot pot with caramel). Great to watch how sugar melted and hardened to become caramel!! There, was our caramel popcorn. Kids were actually constantly asking for ‘caramel popcorn ‘ though it was a bit hard to articulate for a preschooler. ‘Camera’ ‘camerel’! But they managed. It was like a tongue twister! They were Cute!

We had a very packed class today! We did some role playing with children’s favorite stuffed animals! They took care of them and made them food! They each introduced them to everyone else in the class! We carried on our wiggly worm 🐛 from last time and made wiggly worm puppet!! It takes a bit of patience and trains fine motor skills. We had a good read on a book titled Popcorn and we made 🌽 and attempted making popcorn. Unfortunately the portable stove is not hot enough to pop the kernels. We will
try again next time!

Life Cycle of a Butterfly | It's AumSum Time 16/07/2018

Today is our first day of summer program!! Fantastic! We talked about butterfly life cycle. Originally, I planned to collect different specimens in our garden for our exploration and study in our microscope. Unfortunately, we had too much fun in our dough-making that there’s no time left.
We did a lot in 90 minutes.

Here’s more information for butterfly life cycle.

Wow!The boys are covered in white shaving cream! We had some reading and speaking. At the last 15 minutes, we ended the lesson with a fun-filled science experiment. We explored why it rains, using shaving cream to demonstrate how it works. Then comes the best part. And this is what happens in our shower area!!! They want lots of water. I said later when you come with your swimsuit. 🤣

Minions puppet.
We had some reading time during class, 15 min water beads picking (sensory and motor) and a conversation about ‘my favorite minion that I want to make’. They picked their own book to borrow. The little ones are actually very initiative in talking about how they want their minions done. At last, some of them wanted one with curly hair because mine is curly (by the way, I have long curly hair)
