Sorry I haven’t posted much recently. I’ve been busy looking for my missing shoes. I suspect the nargles may be behind it …

Seriously though, it’s so hard to maintain an online teaching page while actually .. you know.. teaching! 😂

If you’re finding this balance tricky too, don’t worry; ‘You’re just as sane as I am. 🤓’

I can’t promise that new content is coming soon, but I can say that things are changing up for me this year, and that change is exciting. Next year will be my 10th year of teaching and I want to make the most of my experience. My year feels like a lifetime ago now and I really want to see what the wonderful world of education has in store for me next! 🤞🏼

Also - turns out Luna Lovegood is a really cheap way to do ‘Book-o-ween’ (or World Book Day) The only part of the costume I bought was the glasses. You can print the Quibbler online and stick it onto a notebook. Let me know if you copy this costume 😇

Have a great day, teachers! ❤️

Do your students struggle to focus in class the closer you get to the Christmas holiday? You are not alone! Here are 5 tips for keeping everything organised for as long as possible ... 😇

Will you buy Christmas gifts for your students? Drop suggestions for simple, cost-effective (or ideally free) treats in the comments. 🎄

(Please note, ‘Christmas’ has been used, but I know for many people different events will be celebrated- so Happy Holidays to all!) ❤️

✅ Meeting your class tomorrow?

Remember, for many children this will mean the world to them. Some little ones will talk about your lessons and your jokes at home all the time. Some of them won’t even want the weekend or half-term breaks because they’ll be so enthused - even if they don’t always show it!

It’s an exhausting job but it is so worth it. You will be making such a big difference as a teacher. Keep a close check on your own well-being and try to enjoy the year as much as you can.

Also - it DOES get easier each year. Others might not agree with this but I promise you it does. Little tips & tricks & familiarity with systems / improved subject knowledge. Just keep at it 😌🥇

Are you starting your NQT year tomorrow? Good luck everyone! 🎉🎉🎉

(Light box with changeable letters - great classroom decor tip. My new class have been changing the messages daily! Can link with topics, school events etc.)

I’ve just started my 9th year of teaching and every year I have set up my class differently. I must admit the ‘first day fear’ never goes away completely … but I am a million times more confident now than I was as an NQT. 🥇

There are a few systems I always like to keep consistent and a few useful online resources i’d like to recommend in the tips today. Hope they help! If you have more suggestions please add them to the list to help others.

What year group do you have this year? I am teaching Y3! Let me know in the comments.

Good luck with your classroom prep, Teachers! 🎉

My NEW classroom! (Okay, it’s the same room as last year. But it feels so fresh and new 😍)

Happy to be back and grateful for the enthusiasm of my new students. Despite everything happening around the world they seem keen & ready for the new academic year. I hope I can match their energy and plan some fun (socially distant) lessons for my 9th year of teaching 😅👍🏼

Are you masks on or masks off for teaching? I might have taken mine off for a photo but ours will be on 24/7 around school. Curious to see what the expectations are around the world.

Enjoy the last bit of your summer, teachers! & good luck to those starting back now.

✨ HI TEACHERS! ✨ I’m starting a new series on here… Ask a Teacher!

Although I am far from a true fountain of endless knowledge, after completing 8 years in the classroom I feel like I know *a bit* about teaching.

I decided to start this series to help some new educators out.

If you’d like to answer some questions as an expert or ask questions as a newbie, just pop a comment under this post or send me a DM. I’d love to get some other creators involved with this.

Today the focus is Time Management. Something most newbies (and many expert teachers..) struggle with.

Click the ‘save’ button to file these tips for a later date. 📩

What would you like to ask about for the next Q&A? Leave suggestions below. Can stay anonymous if you want 👍🏼

I’ve been quite private about my whereabouts this year but feel as though there is no harm in giving a quick update. 😎

I travelled back from Hong Kong to see my friends and family in the UK, but unfortunately couldn’t return directly to Hong Kong as planned as a result of a flight ban.

Sometimes life throws funny little challenges our way 🍋 so I decided to fly to Spain to ‘wash out’ for 22 days before returning to HK to start my quarantine. Not a bad option all things considered.

I’m grateful to have the funds to allow me to do this. I’m happy to have met some travel pals along the way. We are being ultra careful and want to return to Hong Kong as soon as possible to start the teaching year with our new students.

Fingers crossed everything works out okay 🤞🏼To anyone who has had a difficult time meeting with family this summer - I feel you. Send me a dm if you ever need to chat.

Have a restful summer, ❤️

P.S - Can you spot the photoshopped image? & the travel gang 👌🏼

Swipe to see some snippets from my interview with TES 😍

When I started ForTeachers three years ago it was quite a struggle to find other similar creators in this space. I’ve been watching as more and more teachers have begun opening up social media pages where they share their practice and inspiring ideas.

I hope that more and more educators will find a happy space on the Internet where they feel empowered and able to share their ideas with others. I’ve met some amazing people through this too.

Would you ever start a YouTube channel or Teaching blog? I’m curious to see who is considering taking this step. My school curriculum teaches taking action and sharing on this platform is my own example of this 😌

My students are obsessed with all of these items. Especially the humble Rubik’s cube that has made a big comeback this year 😂👍🏼

Teachers - anything else popular in your class at the moment? I wish I could find a way to let my students use these items more without them being ULTRA distracting!

The “For Teachers” Story

What are you hoping to achieve with your YouTube channel? Any plans for future content?

We set up our channel with the aim of helping to promote positivity for teachers. With the pressures of the job, more and more educators seem to be turning away from teaching. We love what we do despite the workload and want to help others to manage their time with our tips and tricks! In the future, keep an eye out for videos that involve technology resources for the classroom. We also want to tackle issues like appropriate social media use for children and provide support for teachers who have to deal with this on a daily basis. We want to create an entire community of support on our channel. We have recently built a website which we hope to use as a hub for all of our content.

What kind of subjects do you cover on the channel and why are they useful for teachers/students?
