In preparation for the next pandemic, global health experts and scientists teamed up to launch the Pandemic Research Alliance. ⚕ Breakfast at Central is honoured to have renowned microbiologist Prof. Yuen Kwok-Yung 袁國勇 and acclaimed Columbia University Virologist Prof. David Ho 何大一 who shared insights at our event this morning. ☀

Notable quotes from the meeting: 🎤
1️⃣ "We have been working on pandemic preparedness for many years. We hope that there will be no more pandemic paralysis and minimal city lockdowns, that is why the Pandemic Research Alliance was organised."

2️⃣ "A good foundation of scientific partners is set up first to grow the Alliance beyond Asia - it has to become more global. Meanwhile, the private sector has an important role to play in funding research on pathogens and viral diseases. If enough institutions collaborate, it will move the needle in the right direction."

3️⃣ "In drug discovery, we already use artificial intelligence. Technology plays a role in pandemic prevention and we know that technology is transforming our research."
