Massive, massive congratulations to the crew from on TEN fantastic years unlocking the potential of otherwise-empty spaces for people to come together and do wonderful things.
It’s so nice to be here to celebrate this milestone with them, and to sneak a photo while the speeches were happening. 🤣

Workplace culture's a big topic of conversation right now. Is it the time of year? Is it all this buzz about The Great Resignation? Is it as simple as the fact that we've all had a weird couple of years, and we want our workplace to be a positive place?

A really thriving, positive culture doesn't happen by accident. While it can be influenced from the top or from outside, it's the people on the ground, in the mix, doing the things that really bring it to life.

The great news here is that if you want to find out how to nurture your culture, the answers are already in the room, you just need the right way to get them on the table.

It was such a thrill over the weekend to work with the brand new team set to open the doors at Burns Beach Primary School next year for their 🧠 Kaat, ❤️ Koort, 🤲 Maara staff induction weekend. Using LEGO Serious Play, we built their sense of identity and philosophy, their expectations of themselves and of their colleagues, and their big sense of purpose to develop an inspiring collection of guiding principles to shape how they interact as a new team. They've built such a strong, heartfelt foundation, I can't wait to drop in for a visit next year once they're all up and running.

If you want to take workplace culture seriously, play with it!

I’ve been on the lookout for some new playmat bags for my workshops, and between COVID-19 shipping weirdness, my picky bastardry, and my DIY ethic, I thought I’d just make some instead.

I’m diving deep into the R&D for some big, beautiful, heart-filled (also messy and noisy) learning programs for kids to launch over the coming months.
has put together an absolute lightning bolt of a book here. Personalised learning as a force for small-scale AND large-scale good by keeping humanity right at the heart.

When I first founded Firebird Learning, my original goal was to create big, beautiful opportunities for kids to indulge their curiosity, exercise their creativity, and learn by following their nose and getting their hands dirty.

Today was the first of a series of big conversations with parents about what a program like that might begin to work towards. Of course, being a big conversation, we had to conduct it using LEGO Serious Play.

We talked about bringing up kids that were adventurous, and compassionate, we talked about coming together over ideas and creative opportunity, and we talked about building a spirit of community by learning together as curious peers across generations.

If you'd like to be involved in an upcoming conversation, or know someone that would, get in touch and I'll let you know.

Big thanks to the team at .perth for turning out a stellar morning tea!

🤩 Early Childhood Educator Appreciation Week!

I mean, it should be every week, right? This year especially, the smart, creative, generous and big-hearted people that guide and nurture our little ones through things they can’t learn at home are so inspiring.
I was lucky enough to work with a incredible team of educators from at the beginning of this year, helping them crystallise their identity, vision, and values. It was so wonderful to see their shared model on the board outside their centre this morning celebrating the educators.
That model is them - it’s who they are, what they stand for, and what they bring to that wonderfully gentle and encouraging learning environment every single day for the little ones they call friends.
Thanks Early Childhood Educators, our society’s nothing without you!
