The HKUST Undergraduate Admissions Information Day is happening on November 1st! On that day, the Schools of Science, Engineering, Business and Management, Humanities and Social Science, and the Academy of Interdisciplinary Studies will host a variety of talks and activities. To gain an early understanding of HKUST’s unique programs and actively participate in the exciting events planned for you, be sure not to miss the “Pre-Info Day - HKUST Programs Showcase Webinars ”!

From October 8th to 20th, join us for a dynamic series of themed program talks designed to spark your curiosity and give you a comprehensive glimpse into various programs. These sessions will help you build a strong foundation in your areas of interest. The 2025 HKDSE results will be released next Wednesday. Here are some frequently asked questions regarding JUPAS admissions.

[Does HKUST offers admissions scholarship for JUPAS applicants?]
To recognize students’ academic achievements, those who attain 5* or 5** in any category A or M1 / M2 subjects in HKDSE will be awarded scholarships automatically, ranging from HK$5,000 (one-off) to a renewable amount of HK$104,500 (full tuition exemption plus living allowance of up to HK$60,000) per annum.

[Does HKUST offers accommodation for first year student?]
First Year Local students will be provided with at least one semester of University housing either in the Fall or Spring Term of their first year of study at HKUST.

2025香港中學文憑考試成績將於下星期三公佈。以下是一些關於聯招入學的常見問題。

[科大會為聯招申請人提供入學獎學金嗎?]
為嘉許同學的學業成就，科大將頒發入學獎學金予於文憑試甲類核心或選修科目，或數學延伸部份單元一或單元二中奪得5*或5**的學生。獎學金金額由單次性港幣5,000元至可續領的每年港幣104,500 (包括全額學費及港幣60,000元生活津貼)不等。

[科大會為新生提供宿位嗎?]
本地新生將會在第一學年保證獲得至少一個學期的住宿(秋季或春季學期)。

[Part 2] The 2025 HKDSE results will be released next Wednesday. Here are some frequently asked questions regarding JUPAS admissions.

[Will my application be considered if I fail to meet the entrance requirement?]
HKUST will consider JUPAS applicants who meet the following conditions:

1. Perform well overall but miss the entrance requirement of 3-3-2 by one level in one HKDSE core subject;
2. Possess an HKDSE program score that is higher than the 2024 admissions median score or the 2025 reference score of the selected program(s); and
3. Put the selected HKUST program(s) in Band A JUPAS choice

[What is the difference between School-based and Program-based admission?]
The school-based admission route allows extra time for the exploration of different subjects after entering HKUST. The School of Science offers two general School-based program choices – Science (Group A) (SSCI-A) program and Science (Group B) (SSCI-B) program. The Science (Group A) program is tailor-made for students interested in the fields of physical science. The Science (Group B) Program is more suitable for students who are interested in the fields of chemistry and life science. The students will declare their corresponding majors upon completing their first year of studies.

While the program-based admission route is well suited for those who opt to specialize early on. Students who have developed clear interests in International Research Enrichment (IRE) program, Biomedical and Health Sciences (BMH) program, Science (Group A) with an Extended Major in Artificial Intelligence (SSCI-A (AI)) program, Biotechnology and Business (BIBU) program or Mathematics and Economics (MAEC) program may apply and be admitted directly into the program.

Please note students who follow the school-based admissions route will have the opportunity to enter these programs via the Major selection exercise before Year 2. Therefore, students who are interested in IRE, BMH, SSCI-A (AI), BIBU or MAEC may also consider putting SSCI-A/SSCI-B program as their JUPAS Band A choices as well.

[假如我未能滿足入學要求，科大仍會考慮我的申請嗎?]
聯招申請人若於中文、英文或數學其中一科成績較科大最低入學要求（即3-3-2）稍遜一級，但整體成績仍高於報讀課程的2024年收生中位數(admissions median score) 或2025年入學參考分數 (reference score)，及將有關課程放在Band A，則仍會獲該課程考慮。

[學院制入學和課程制入學有甚麼分別?]
學院制入學可讓學生利用首個學年去探索理學院各個學術領域的基礎知識。理學院提供兩個學院制入學課程：理學A組及理學B組。理學A組為對數理科學感興趣的學生而設，而理學B組則專為對化學和生命科學感興趣的學生而設。學生在完成第一學年後可以選擇相應的主修課程。

以課程制入學則適合對個別專業有濃厚興趣的學生。對國際科研、生物醫學及健康科學、理學A組 — 延伸主修人工智能主修、生物科技及商學或數學與經濟學課程有明確興趣的同學可以直接報讀課程。

以學院制入讀的學生亦可以在首學年結束時選擇以上學科作為主修課程，所以對國際科研、生物醫學及健康科學、理學A組 — 延伸主修人工智能主修、生物科技及商學或數學與經濟學課程的同學亦可考慮將理學A組/理學B組作為Band A選擇。

The 2025 HKDSE results will be released next Wednesday. Here are some important reminders for JUPAS applicants regarding the modification of program choices.

[2025 JUPAS Admissions Expected Scores]
HKUST has released the 2025 JUPAS Admissions Expected Scores and the online score calculator. Candidates achieving the “Expected Score” are considered competitive for their program(s) of choice in Band A.

[JUPAS Score Calculator]
You may check the admission requirements of your program of interest via the JUPAS Score Calculator. The calculator will automatically calculate a reference score based on the expected HKDSE results that you input.

[Admissions Interview]
Shortlisted applicants will be invited to attend the IRE Program (JS5101) Admissions Interview on July 24 (Thursday) and/or the BMH Program (JS5118) Admissions Interview on July 25 (Friday).
