/ 崇基學院院長巡禮 (III) 容啟東博士 /

為誌崇基賢達對學院發展的貢獻，專欄現正介紹歷任院長事蹟，今期主角為容啟東博士。容氏早歲就學廣州嶺南學校，後考入清華大學生物系，再赴美國芝加哥大學深造植物學，獲博士學位。一九三八年，容博士應李應林博士之邀到嶺南大學任教生物系，並曾任代校長。一九五一年就任香港大學植物學高級講師，後為植物學系系主任。

容博士於一九五九年出任崇基校董，一九六○至七五年間擔任崇基校長，並曾兼任崇基神學院首任校長，任內積極籌辦成立中大，並督導崇基各項新建築落成。中大成立後，容博士獲任命為校董及首任副校長，後兼任研究院院長。為紀念容氏卓越貢獻，其親友捐款予崇基成立「容啟東博士紀念獎學金」，而二○一一年學院新聖堂大樓亦以容博士名諱命名。睇今期未圓時空了解更多。

/ Chung Chi College Head (III) Dr. Yung Chi Tung /

To commemorate the contributions of our esteemed leaders, Found Space is introducing the College Head, featuring Dr. Yung Chi Tung, in this issue. Dr. Yung spent his early years studying at Canton Christian School, then gained admission to the Department of Biology at Tsinghua University. Later, he went to the University of Chicago to pursue advanced studies in botany, earning his doctoral degree.
In 1938, at the invitation of Dr. Lee Ying Lam, then President of Lingnan University, he served in the university’s Department of Biology, and later as Acting President of the University. In 1951, he took up the post of Senior Lecturer of Botany at The University of Hong Kong, later serving as Head of the Department of Botany.

In 1959, Dr. Yung became a member of the College’s Board of Governors. From 1960 to 1975, he served as President and served concurrently as the first President of Chung Chi Theological Seminary. He not only participated in the planning and establishment of CUHK but also devoted himself to advancing the development of Chung Chi.

Upon the establishment of CUHK, Dr. Yung was appointed as the first Pro-Vice-Chancellor and a member of the University Council, and later concurrently assumed the role of Dean of the Graduate School. In tribute to Dr. Yung’s remarkable contributions, his family and friends subsequently donated funds to Chung Chi College to establish the “Dr. C.T. Yung Memorial Scholarship”. In 2011, the College’s new Divinity School Chapel building was named in Dr. Yung’s honor. Read the Found Space to explore more!

2026年，崇基學院迎來創校七十五週年的重要里程碑。學院以「游心藝圃，康樂崇基」為校慶主題，策劃多項精彩活動，與崇基人一同回望歷程、分享喜悅。🎊

其中，「崇基學院七十五週年校慶晚宴」 將於2026年10月31日（星期六）在香港會議展覽中心大會堂舉行。誠意邀請崇基校友及友好參加，無論是舊同學再聚，還是與師長聚首，都是一次難得而溫馨的相聚，共同為崇基的七十五歲生日慶祝。🥳

Founded in 1951, Chung Chi College has upheld the spirit of “In Pursuit of Excellence” for 75 years, nurturing over 32,000 alumni across generations. Wherever life has taken us, Chung Chi remains a shared bond and a place we call home. ❤️

In 2026, the College proudly marks its 75th Anniversary under the theme “Chung Chi Spirit. Joyful Journey. Celebrating 75 Years”, with a series of celebratory events bringing the Chung Chi community together. 🎊

A highlight of the celebrations, the Chung Chi College 75th Anniversary Banquet, will be held on Saturday, 31 October 2026, at the Grand Hall, Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. Alumni and friends are warmly invited to reconnect with classmates and teachers and celebrate this milestone together. 🥳
