Last Friday, 29 May, our students introduced their favourite Chinese books to Kellett School penpals. With eager voices, they shared beloved stories and cultural insights, opening a window into our world through Mandarin. It was a celebration of language, curiosity, and growing friendships that truly filled us with hope. 📚✨
This heartwarming moment is part of a year-long journey bridging cultures. With enthusiastic support from Principals Mr Chan and Mr Dixon, our pen pal programme before Christmas allowed students to exchange letters in their second languages, building confidence and genuine bonds. Kellett students shared English books, and we returned the gift by bringing Chinese books to their classrooms.
Cultural appreciation deepened on Chinese Cultural Day, when Mr Dixon and his teachers learned Chinese dance, and when we were warmly welcomed to Kellett’s Chinese New Year performance. Book Character Day in April brought lively English game booths to our campus, filling the day with laughter.
These shared experiences remind us that cultural understanding is lived, not just taught. Every story exchanged and every celebration shared has woven a stronger, more connected community. Here’s to the friendships that keep growing and the many chapters still to come!
