Lok Fu is an area that's just a ten minute walk from campus and a favorite among students. It provides beautiful sights, tasty food, and areas for shopping.

(The takeout from Lok Fu Market is one of Charles' favorite meals)

There are many service organizations on campus that connect students to the Hong Kong community.

Kali and Shahnoza spent Halloween volunteering with one such organization and preparing food for the Aunties and Uncles of Hong Kong.

This past week, HKBU hosted the IIBD International Case Competition bringing in students from the Philippines and Russia, as well as a team from our very own school.

On their sightseeing day, several of our International Business Students went with them to explore Hong Kong themselves !

The best way to celebrate the end of midterms? Explore somewhere new in Hong Kong!

Kali and Noza visited the Tian Tan Buddha statue (referred to as the "Big Buddha") and then explored the nearby Tai O Fishing Village. So picturesque!

Moving to a new country isn't easy, and everyone has their own way of coping with homesickness.

When Kairi gets homesick, he goes out in search of Japanese food- and lucky for him there are many options throughout Hong Kong!

It's amazing how well Hong Kong balances big city life and nature- and HKBU takes on the challenge to create green spaces on campus. They really make it seem like you're not living in a concrete jungle!

“It was during my exchange year in Vietnam that I fell in love with South East Asia. Life in Japan can be very stressful and it seems that there is no time for just taking a break and enjoying life; people are always in a rush.

After Vietnam I realized that I wanted to return to this region and eventually maybe even live here for good. Hong Kong - situated between South East Asia and Japan appealed to me. I am glad I came here - it is amazing how many friends from different countries I have already made. People are always surprised when I tell them that to me living in Hong Kong is relaxing - they really should come to Tokyo sometime and see what busy is.”

Some graduate school members find the time to be a part of extracurriculars on campus. We have students involved in the hiking club, sustainability club, and even one student who made the school tennis team!

This is Shahnoza and Kali during the orientation weekend for the Sustainability Club on campus, where they participated in different upcycling projects, as well as visiting elderly Hong Kong "uncles" and "aunties" in their homes and delivering goodies.

"I used to be quite a timid person and I wanted to change this about myself. So I read a couple of books and watched some talks on personal development but I knew that this wouldn’t be enough - so I gave myself a challenge when the program started: Every group work we would have, I’d try not to be in a group with other Internationals; now I have stepped up my game and Iam trying to not to be in the same groups with the same locals - this way I am also learning as much as I can about the local culture and its people. The language is quite a big barrier I must admit but it is getting better; what helps is definitely the strong collectivism in the culture here which is very similar to my country Ghana - but let’s not talk about Ghana cause I will just get sad thinking about all the amazing food we have; I am meeting a guy from Ghana tomorrow for lunch - I am really looking forward to that - I have been missing our food so much.”
