Complex conflict of laws issues arise in cross-border transactions and cross-border litigation concerning intellectual property rights. The new book by Prof. Triomble sets out the key principles of conflict of laws as they apply to IP cases and analyses essential conflict of laws concepts and rules in light of their practical application in the IP law context. Her presentation will highlight some of the key and recent examples of the intersection of the two areas of law.

The Greater Bay Area is witnessing a historic policy breakthrough: cross-border data flows are finally being opened through new โwhitelistโ mechanisms and pilot zones. But data crossing the border is only the first stepโthe real value lies in turning that data into AI-ready assets that power smarter legal practice. This seminar unpacks the latest NPC policy proposals, examines the โHetaoโ data green channel, and explores how professional data services are transforming raw legal data into actionable intelligence. Join us to understand the โdata bridgeโ that will define the future of legal practice in the GBA.

AI hallucinations โ fabricated outputs from large language models (LLMs) โ are increasingly problematic in legal practice. In late 2025, OpenAI acknowledged hallucinations as an unavoidable feature of LLMs, not a temporary flaw.
The upcoming seminar will explore judicial responses in various jurisdictions, mitigation techniques such as retrieval-augmented generation, legal tasks most vulnerable to hallucinations, and the limited utility of current benchmarks.
