其實我比較享受在幕後和田野的工作。以前沒有九成把握的事情不會說，有時也怕踏出第一步去嘗試。但漸漸明白到，理念需要被看見，如果一直不分享和表達出來，研究、教育和倡議項目就難以推進，機會和資源並不會從天而降。慢慢我也明白到，所謂的包裝和行銷，也可以是真誠的、務實的，更是傳遞理念的重要一環，並非不務正業。如果希望其他人認識、了解、支持自己相信的理念，那麼好好的表達和溝通就是自己的責任。

I’ve always preferred working behind the scenes and in the field. In the past, I wouldn‘t speak up or even dare to try unless I was 90% certain about something. But gradually I’ve come to understand that ideas need visibility. Without sharing and expression, research, education, and advocacy projects cannot move forward - opportunities and resources don‘t fall from the sky. Over time, I’ve realized that packaging and marketing can be authentic and practical - they‘re essential components of conveying ideas, not a deviation from real work. If we want others to know, understand, and support what we believe in, then effective expression and communication become our responsibility.

已經很久沒有剪紙和舉辦與植物無關的社區活動了！小時候都會在過年前剪紙做裝飾。是次工作坊玩樂為主，希望和新舊朋友聚聚。

I haven’t done any paper cuts and community works not related to plants for loooooong time! When I was a kid, I made paper cuts as CNY decorations. This workshop is just for fun and would be great to catch up with old and new friends :)
Turns out I realized the patterns I used are still about plants lol.

[Hong Kong Native Mushrooms Postcards 2020] (中文見下方) Unearthed relics! I started working in herbarium as a student helper in 2019 while engaging with . During my undergrad years, I explored both natural wonders and community-building work. For a while, it felt like I was living in two separate worlds that never intertwined. However, now that I’m working on my own projects, those boundaries have disappeared.

In 2020, CU Happy Corner, we were preparing for the CNY market, and I thought it would be great to make some postcards. I invited colleagues to join the creation, the photos were kindly provided by and , without asking anything about copyright and profit. They are then designed by myself and thank you and .travelogue for the design and printing support :)

I didn't take good photos of these cards back then. Just raw ideas, we didn't have any idea or care about marketing, branding, and making profits. It was just pure joy and fun in the process of co-creation, and I was glad that the public had a great response to the products. I still remember the lunch where colleagues and I were crafting hilarious rhymes in broken English. We had a hard time translating the Chinese properly into something poetic.
This set of postcards means more than products promoting the biodiversity of HK to me, they were also one of the many pivotal moments for me in facilitation, curation, and co-creation.

[香港原生蕈類明信片 2020] 出土文物！在 2019 年開始在我開始在植物標本室工作，同時活躍於 。在大學時期，我將時間分配在探索自然和社區凝造之間。有一段時間，我覺得自己活在兩個不同的世界，從來沒有交集。不過，現在開始了自己的project，這些界限已經消失了。

2020 年，山城角樂正為年宵市場做準備，我覺得如可製作一些明信片就好了，所以邀請了同事一起創作，照片由 和 提供，也沒有詢問任何關於版權和利潤的問題。我負責設計，感謝 和 .travelogue 的設計和印刷支援。

當時也沒有好好做過記錄。這些只是原始的想法，對行銷、品牌和賺錢大家沒有特別的想法/關注。只是純粹的好玩，一起共同創作，很高興大眾對這些產品有很好的反應。還記得午飯時，我和同事用笨拙的英語創作了搞笑的押韻句 (很難把中文好好翻譯成有詩意的文字)。

對我來說，它們不僅僅是推廣香港生物多樣性的產品，還是我在做facilitation, 策劃和共同創作方面其中一個起步點和回憶之一。

[Work Archive］Some of my previous scientific specimen copies are displayed in the ‘The Legend of Ngong Ping Highland Tea’ exhibition in Tung Chung Community Liaison Centre Extension, Tung Chung East Promenade (17 Nov 2024 to 16 Feb 2025) , including the tea plantation - 𝘊𝘢𝘮𝘦𝘭𝘭𝘪𝘢 𝘴𝘪𝘯𝘦𝘯𝘴𝘪𝘴 (L.) Kuntze (Theaceae), a Chinese herb that arrests bleeding - 𝘛𝘦𝘶𝘤𝘳𝘪𝘶𝘮 𝘷𝘪𝘴𝘤𝘪𝘥𝘶𝘮 Blume (Lamiaceae), a weedy plant with beautiful purple flowers - 𝘝𝘦𝘳𝘣𝘦𝘯𝘢 𝘣𝘳𝘢𝘴𝘪𝘭𝘪𝘦𝘯𝘴𝘪𝘴 Vell. (Verbenaceae), and other plants.

Hope you can see them when you walk around Ngong Ping！

[工作記錄] 有些早前在工作時採集的科學標本副本正在東涌東海濱花園的東涌社區聯絡中心擴建部分《昂坪雲霧茶傳奇》展覽中展出（2024年11月17日至2025年2月16日），包括茶園的茶 - 𝘊𝘢𝘮𝘦𝘭𝘭𝘪𝘢 𝘴𝘪𝘯𝘦𝘯𝘴𝘪𝘴 (L.) Kuntze (山茶科) 、一種止血的中草藥 - 𝘛𝘦𝘶𝘤𝘳𝘪𝘶𝘮 𝘷𝘪𝘴𝘤𝘪𝘥𝘶𝘮 Blume 血見愁 (唇形科)、擁有美麗紫色小花的野草 - 𝘝𝘦𝘳𝘣𝘦𝘯𝘢 𝘣𝘳𝘢𝘴𝘪𝘭𝘪𝘦𝘯𝘴𝘪𝘴 Vell. Kuntze 狹葉馬鞭草 (馬鞭草科)及其他植物。

《WEEDsilience》生態紀錄片奪冠 團隊盼改雜草刻板印象

近年，不少大廈為了美觀，都會特意在外牆種植各式各樣的花草、苔蘚點綴，卻有不少失敗例子，美麗只得一𣊬，轉眼化成一片枯枝敗葉。然而，在車路旁、簷蓬上、磚塊間那些沒有人留意的角落，卻常有不知名的野花野草從縫隙中長出來，開花結果，人們總想把它們剷除，卻除之不盡，轉眼又有新一批雜草長出。《WEEDsilience: Exploring the Neglected Nature》紀錄片以特別的拍攝手法，呈現出野草美麗一面，更贏得本年度香港青年自然生態紀錄片拍攝比賽冠軍。紀錄片由WEEDsilience團隊的成員王顥霖（Homan）和王曉欣（Ivy）共同製作。

透過紀錄片，他們希望有更多人懂得欣賞城市中這些被嫌棄的雜草，進而推廣「自發景觀」的理念，長遠希望能把野草融入城市設計和規劃之中。

Homan和Ivy都是生態愛好者，Homan本來比較喜歡昆蟲，為了尋找更多昆蟲才開始學習有關植物的知識，卻自此對植物也產生了濃厚興趣，更定下目標，要集齊香港三千多種植物物種，至今已集齊超過一半。在Ivy的眼中，他不但是團隊中辨認植物的專家，也是一個「生態毒L」，喜歡認動植物就如一般人喜歡「玩Pokemon集郵」一樣，於普通人而言看起來長得一模一樣的禾本科植物，如不同品種的芒草，Homan都表示「認佢都唔係咁難。」Ivy雖然常要埋首於實驗室工作，但她很喜歡探索環境，亦活躍於不同社區活動、環保教育等工作，她自小在上水的鄉郊地區長大，幾歲已經跟着外婆放在家中的草藥圖鑑四處採摘野草來吃（讀者切勿模仿）。

他們相信，透過持續進行研究工作，人類能找到更好的方法與野草共存，助我們建設更具韌性的城市，迎接未來挑戰。

(中文見下方) As the editor, I spent time proposing and adjusting practical workflow and timeline, proposing how to reach consensus, proofreading every pointed line for annotation, page layouts, color tones of photos, drafting a list of terminology that requires alignment, checking the consistency of wordings and tones along different sections, etc.

The most complicated yet meaningful part to me was the translation of Mr. Ma Ping’s preface (I insisted the preface shall be bilingual because Dr. Boufford and Mr. Ma Ping was two people who are still alive and have worked with Professor Shiu-Ying Hu). The editor from CUHK Press said she could not understand Mr Ma’s draft for the preface at the beginning. Without knowing the historical stories between people, technical terms and workflow in scientific illustrations, and the cultural differences between old China and modern Hong Kong (Mr. Ma lives in Mongolia and is over 70), one may not fully understand what Mr Ma means. And I was like a translator between two worlds. There was a lot of back-and-forth editing, but it was worth it.

It was the most challenging task for me in the entire process. Apart from the herbarium team, I am also very grateful to work with the editor, Ms. Winifred Sin, and designer, Ms. Cho Tsz Yan, from CUHK Press. They are really professional and helpful (We worked till mid-night together).

作為編輯，花了不少時間在草擬及收定實際的工作流程及時間表、建議如何達成共識、校對每條標線的位置、註釋、版面設計、照片的色調、草擬需要統一的術語清單、檢查不同章節的文字和圖片的色調、對位及一致性等等。

個人覺得最複雜但也最有意義的部分，就是為馬平先生的序言作翻譯（我堅持序言要中英對照，因為Dr. Boufford和馬平先生是兩位仍健在並曾與胡秀英教授共事的人）。中大出版社的編輯說她一開始看不懂馬先生的序言草稿。大概因為涉及人與人之間的歷史故事，科學繪圖的流程和術語，還有舊中國和現代香港在用詞上和文化上的差異（馬先生已70歲有多並住在內蒙古），所以不能完全理解馬先生的意思。而我就像是兩個世界之間的小翻譯。有很多反反復複的編輯工作，但這是值得的。

對我來說，這是整個過程中最具挑戰性的工作。除了植物標本室團隊，我十分感謝與中大出版社的編輯冼懿穎小姐和美術設計曹芷昕小姐，她們非常專業，並幫了很大的忙（我們一起工作到深夜）。

香港原生植物圖鑑（第二冊）在中大出版社和其他書店有售。
