⭐ 創意寫作:哈利波特主題|9–11 歲|6 週魔法主題英文寫作課|六月開課

本課程完美結合《哈利波特》魔法世界與英文小說寫作。由 Ms. Susan 帶領,學生將以霍格華茲、斜角巷、咒語及英雄反派為靈感,學習場景設定、角色塑造、情節結構、衝突設計及高潮鋪陳等小說核心技巧。同時,課程亦著重對話技巧、「以描寫代替直接說明」、畫面感與比喻的運用,從而提升英文描寫、語法、標點及拼寫的準確度。

在 6 週課程中,學生將逐步設計自己的角色與情節,最終完成一篇獨一無二的魔法主題故事。課程重點在於寫作技巧而非原著知識,因此未曾接觸過《哈利波特》的學生亦可輕鬆融入。小朋友將透過豐富的魔法元素激發想像力,建立故事架構,全方位躍升英文寫作水平。

This course combines the imaginative world of Harry Potter with essential fiction writing skills. Guided by Ms. Susan, students will draw inspiration from magical settings, spells, heroes, villains and adventure elements to explore the core features of storytelling, including setting, character, plot, conflict, openings and climax.

Across six weeks, students will develop their own Harry Potter-inspired magical story, while strengthening descriptive writing, dialogue, sentence accuracy and narrative structure. Prior knowledge of the books or films is not required; the course uses the magical world as a creative springboard to help students write with greater imagination, detail and confidence.

- Writing Task: Design and describe an original magical location.

Week 3|Magical Characters and Story Structure
- Character Design and Narrative Structure: Students will look at characters such as Harry, Ron, Hermione, Dumbledore, Draco and Voldemort to understand how heroes, mentors, rivals and villains help shape a story.
- Writing Task: Plan a magical story and create two key characters.

Week 4|The First Page of Magic
- Writing a Compelling Opening: Students will explore Harry Potter-style openings, such as mysterious letters, hidden identities, unusual events and unexpected magic, and learn how to create suspense and curiosity from the first page.
- Writing Task: Write the opening three paragraphs of their magical story.

Week 5|Heroes, Villains and Magical Creatures
- Character Development and Story Tension: Drawing on heroes, villains, rivals and magical creatures from the Harry Potter world, students will learn how to create characters with clear motivations, weaknesses, goals and secrets.

Week 6|Spells, Conflict and the Final Challenge

Week Two: Dystopian – Fahrenheit 451
- Learning Focus: Students will analyse an extract to infer how language and structure reveal societal values and character perspective; they will identify use of symbolism and explain how it contributes to theme.
- Homework: Read another short extract teacher-selected and identify three instances of symbolic language. Make links to Dystopian conventions and contextual details.

Week Three: Poetry of Protest – Not My Business, The Hill We Climb
- Learning Focus: Students will analyse poetic devices to infer speaker stance and evaluate how poetic form shapes meaning in protest poetry.
- Homework: Annotate another poem of protest teacher-provided and write three inference statements supported by lines from the poem. Turn this into an interview with the author.

Week Four: Classic Novel – Lord of the Flies
- Learning Focus: Students will analyse an extract to infer how characterization and narrative perspective reveal themes of civilization vs. savagery, and identify figurative language and symbolism contributing to those inferences.
- Homework: Read a connected chapter/extract; annotate for instances where symbols reappear and write a short analytical paragraph in response.

Week Five: Gothic – The Woman in Black
- Learning Focus: Students will analyse atmosphere and structural suspense techniques in a Gothic extract to infer the effect of setting and narrative voice; they will evaluate how genre conventions shape reader expectations.
- Homework: Identify similar Gothic conventions in a different Gothic novel extract.

Week Six: Verse and graphic novels – The Final Year, They Called us Enemy
- Learning Focus: Students will analyse 2 short extracts to develop inference skills showing understanding of a writer’s craft and meaning; identify themes, symbols and ideas within a text from visual and written clues; establish the author’s intentions.
- Homework: Using a different extract, student will annotate the devices and meaning, then argue that graphic or verse novels are equally as important as more traditional types of literature.

🧠 課堂怎樣進行?

每堂課通常包含三個核心部分:

1. 閱讀理解與導讀
老師會帶領學生理解本週閱讀重點,梳理故事情節、人物關係和關鍵內容。

2. 深度討論與口語表達
老師會用引導式問題鼓勵學生分享想法,例如:
「你同意這個反派角色的所作所為嗎?是否有其他原因驅使他這樣做?」
「如果你是主角,你會選擇跟書中一樣的決定嗎?或是想會有其他想法?」
「作者透過這幾句連續追問,希望傳遞給讀者什麼訊息?」
這些即場問答練習,能幫助學生提升英文表達、邏輯思考和回答問題的信心。

3. 詞彙、寫作構思與課後功課
學生會學習書中的實用詞彙、句型和寫作技巧。老師亦會設計與故事相關的寫作任務,例如角色日記、情節改寫、觀點段落或創意延伸寫作。

功課之後透過 Google Classroom 上傳,老師會親自批改並提供回饋。

❓ 常見問題
Q1:第一堂課需要先讀書嗎?
一般不需要。老師會在第一堂課中提供必要背景和節選內容,讓學生可以直接參與討論。正式閱讀任務通常會從第二堂課開始安排。

Q2:小朋友需要家長陪讀嗎?
7 歲以上學生多數可以嘗試自行閱讀,但仍要視乎英文程度和書本難度。如果家長希望孩子更有信心,也可以在課前陪伴閱讀或簡單討論內容。

Q3:需要自己買書嗎?
試堂後決定正式報讀,我們會建議家長為學生準備實體書,或自行到圖書館借閱。部分課程也可能會提供電子資源作為輔助,視資源情況而定。

Q4:Book Club 和 Creative Writing 有什麼不同?
Creative Writing 主要訓練學生自己創作故事。Book Club 則先以書本內容作為基礎,讓學生有角色、情節和主題可以參考,因此對於不知如何開始寫作的學生會更有幫助。

Q5:如何選書?
我們希望每位學生都能在「有挑戰但不挫敗」的程度下學習。我們會根據學生的年齡、英文程度、閱讀經驗和 Lexile / 閱讀水平建議合適書目,避免書本太容易或太困難。

家長也可以根據孩子試堂後的反應,與我們討論是否需要調整書本或班級程度。

⭐ 自信表達與展示:口語表達技巧課程|8–10 歲|6 週英語口語表達課程|5 月底開課

對學生來說,能否清楚、有條理地用英文表達自己,會直接影響他們在課堂發言、小組討論、簡短 presentation 和學校活動中的自信度。

這門 6 週課程專為 8–10 歲學生設計,透過清楚、有步驟的表達框架,幫助他們學會如何介紹自己、整理想法、回答問題、說出故事,並逐步建立在英文環境中開口表達的信心。

課程內容包括 30 秒自我介紹、短篇演講結構、用故事回答問題、應對較難的提問,以及語速、眼神接觸、聲音表現和減少 filler words 等實用技巧。每堂課都會透過教師示範、互動練習、配對任務和即時回饋,讓學生在安全、有鼓勵的環境中練習開口。

授課老師 Mr. Owain 為英國合格教師,具備教學、辯論及業界背景,能引導學生把想法說得更清楚、更有重點。課程最後,學生將完成一段 2 分鐘 Final Showcase,綜合運用所學,展示自己的英文表達能力與自信。

This six-week course is designed for students aged 8–10 who would like to build confidence in English speaking, classroom participation and short presentations.

Students will learn how to introduce themselves clearly, organise short talks, answer questions using simple story structures, and improve their delivery through pace control, eye contact, voice expression and reducing filler words.

With guidance from Mr. Owain, a UK-qualified teacher with teaching, debate and professional experience, students will practise through teacher modelling, paired activities and supportive feedback. The course will end with a 2-minute Final Showcase, where students can bring together the speaking skills they have developed.

Week 4 | Handling Tricky Questions

Week 5 | Tone, Eye Contact and Delivery

Week 6 | Final Showcase

對 5–6 歲的小朋友來說,從圖畫書慢慢進入英文橋樑書,是建立英文閱讀信心的重要階段。此門45分鐘線上初階英文讀書會選用經典童書 Frog and Toad 系列,故事溫暖、篇幅適中、語言清楚,非常適合作為英文閱讀入門。

課程每堂課會閱讀一個完整的小故事,讓小朋友在穩定、有安全感的閱讀節奏中理解情節、認識角色、學習新詞彙。課堂透過 shared reading、echo reading、角色扮演、故事排序、口頭重述和互動討論,引導小朋友理解人物感受、故事順序和簡單的原因結果關係。

Week 1|A New Season Begins — Spring
