This course combines the imaginative world of Harry Potter with essential fiction writing skills. Guided by Ms. Susan, students will draw inspiration from magical settings, spells, heroes, villains and adventure elements to explore the core features of storytelling, including setting, character, plot, conflict, openings and climax.

Across six weeks, students will develop their own Harry Potter-inspired magical story, while strengthening descriptive writing, dialogue, sentence accuracy and narrative structure. Prior knowledge of the books or films is not required; the course uses the magical world as a creative springboard to help students write with greater imagination, detail and confidence.

- Homework: Annotate another poem of protest teacher-provided and write three inference statements supported by lines from the poem. Turn this into an interview with the author.

Week Four: Classic Novel – Lord of the Flies
- Learning Focus: Students will analyse an extract to infer how characterization and narrative perspective reveal themes of civilization vs. savagery, and identify figurative language and symbolism contributing to those inferences.
- Homework: Read a connected chapter/extract; annotate for instances where symbols reappear and write a short analytical paragraph in response.

Week Five: Gothic – The Woman in Black
- Learning Focus: Students will analyse atmosphere and structural suspense techniques in a Gothic extract to infer the effect of setting and narrative voice; they will evaluate how genre conventions shape reader expectations.

🧠 課堂怎樣進行？

每堂課通常包含三個核心部分：

1. 閱讀理解與導讀
老師會帶領學生理解本週閱讀重點，梳理故事情節、人物關係和關鍵內容。

2. 深度討論與口語表達
老師會用引導式問題鼓勵學生分享想法，例如：
「你同意這個反派角色的所作所為嗎？是否有其他原因驅使他這樣做？」
「如果你是主角，你會選擇跟書中一樣的決定嗎？或是想會有其他想法？」
「作者透過這幾句連續追問，希望傳遞給讀者什麼訊息？」
這些即場問答練習，能幫助學生提升英文表達、邏輯思考和回答問題的信心。

3. 詞彙、寫作構思與課後功課
學生會學習書中的實用詞彙、句型和寫作技巧。老師亦會設計與故事相關的寫作任務，例如角色日記、情節改寫、觀點段落或創意延伸寫作。

❓ 常見問題
Q1：第一堂課需要先讀書嗎？
一般不需要。老師會在第一堂課中提供必要背景和節選內容，讓學生可以直接參與討論。正式閱讀任務通常會從第二堂課開始安排。

Q2：小朋友需要家長陪讀嗎？
7 歲以上學生多數可以嘗試自行閱讀，但仍要視乎英文程度和書本難度。如果家長希望孩子更有信心，也可以在課前陪伴閱讀或簡單討論內容。

Q3：需要自己買書嗎？
試堂後決定正式報讀，我們會建議家長為學生準備實體書，或自行到圖書館借閱。部分課程也可能會提供電子資源作為輔助，視資源情況而定。

Q4：Book Club 和 Creative Writing 有什麼不同？
Creative Writing 主要訓練學生自己創作故事。Book Club 則先以書本內容作為基礎，讓學生有角色、情節和主題可以參考，因此對於不知如何開始寫作的學生會更有幫助。

Q5：如何選書？
我們希望每位學生都能在「有挑戰但不挫敗」的程度下學習。我們會根據學生的年齡、英文程度、閱讀經驗和 Lexile / 閱讀水平建議合適書目，避免書本太容易或太困難。

家長也可以根據孩子試堂後的反應，與我們討論是否需要調整書本或班級程度。

⭐ 自信表達與展示：口語表達技巧課程｜8–10 歲｜6 週英語口語表達課程｜5 月底開課

對學生來說，能否清楚、有條理地用英文表達自己，會直接影響他們在課堂發言、小組討論、簡短 presentation 和學校活動中的自信度。

這門 6 週課程專為 8–10 歲學生設計，透過清楚、有步驟的表達框架，幫助他們學會如何介紹自己、整理想法、回答問題、說出故事，並逐步建立在英文環境中開口表達的信心。

課程內容包括 30 秒自我介紹、短篇演講結構、用故事回答問題、應對較難的提問，以及語速、眼神接觸、聲音表現和減少 filler words 等實用技巧。每堂課都會透過教師示範、互動練習、配對任務和即時回饋，讓學生在安全、有鼓勵的環境中練習開口。

授課老師 Mr. Owain 為英國合格教師，具備教學、辯論及業界背景，能引導學生把想法說得更清楚、更有重點。課程最後，學生將完成一段 2 分鐘 Final Showcase，綜合運用所學，展示自己的英文表達能力與自信。

This six-week course is designed for students aged 8–10 who would like to build confidence in English speaking, classroom participation and short presentations.

Students will learn how to introduce themselves clearly, organise short talks, answer questions using simple story structures, and improve their delivery through pace control, eye contact, voice expression and reducing filler words.

With guidance from Mr. Owain, a UK-qualified teacher with teaching, debate and professional experience, students will practise through teacher modelling, paired activities and supportive feedback. The course will end with a 2-minute Final Showcase, where students can bring together the speaking skills they have developed.

第 1 週｜有吸引力的自我介紹
學習如何在 30 秒內清楚介紹自己，包含自己的興趣、特色和目標，讓自我介紹更自然、更有自信，也更容易讓人留下印象。
-作業： 錄製一段 30 秒自我介紹音檔。

第 2 週｜短篇演講結構入門
學習 opening、body、close 三段式表達結構，幫助學生把想法說得更有重點、更有條理。
-作業： 準備一段 1 分鐘短篇演講，主題為 A problem I solved，並使用三段式結構。

第 3 週｜用故事回答問題
透過簡化版故事結構，練習回答 Tell me about a time... 類型問題，提升敘事能力與表達清晰度。

第 4 週｜應對較難回答的問題

Week 3 | Using Stories to Answer Questions
-Students practise answering Tell me about a time... questions using a simple story structure, helping them speak in a more organised and engaging way.
-Homework: Record yourself answering Tell me about a time you showed leadership using the Situation–Action–Result structure.

Week 4 | Handling Tricky Questions
-Students learn how to respond to questions such as What is your weakness? and Why should we choose you? in a more thoughtful and confident way.
-Homework: Record yourself answering:

Week 5 | Tone, Eye Contact and Delivery
-Students focus on spoken delivery, including pace, eye contact, voice control, and reducing filler words, so that their speaking sounds more natural and confident.
-Homework: Practise your 2-minute final showcase presentation, focusing on delivery, and record yourself to check for filler words.

Week 6 | Final Showcase
-Students bring together everything they have learned in a 2-minute individual presentation, building confidence in public speaking and spoken expression.

⭐ 英語故事閱讀入門：《青蛙和蟾蜍》｜5–6 歲｜6 週初階英文讀書會｜5 月中開課

對 5–6 歲的小朋友來說，從圖畫書慢慢進入英文橋樑書，是建立英文閱讀信心的重要階段。此門45分鐘線上初階英文讀書會選用經典童書 Frog and Toad 系列，故事溫暖、篇幅適中、語言清楚，非常適合作為英文閱讀入門。

課程每堂課會閱讀一個完整的小故事，讓小朋友在穩定、有安全感的閱讀節奏中理解情節、認識角色、學習新詞彙。課堂透過 shared reading、echo reading、角色扮演、故事排序、口頭重述和互動討論，引導小朋友理解人物感受、故事順序和簡單的原因結果關係。

本課程一共使用兩本書，課程前 3 週會使用 Frog and Toad are Friends，後 3 週會使用 Frog and Toad Together。透過每週一個短篇故事，小朋友將逐步累積英文詞彙、朗讀流暢度、聽讀理解能力和口語表達信心。這是一門溫和、有趣、互動性高的英文閱讀啟蒙課，幫助小朋友真正喜歡英文故事，也更願意用英文分享自己的想法。

For 5–6 year olds, moving from picture books into early chapter books is an important step in building reading confidence. This course uses the classic Frog and Toad stories, which are warm, clear and age-appropriate.

Each lesson focuses on one complete short story. Through shared reading, echo reading, role-play, sequencing, oral retelling and discussion, students will build vocabulary, story understanding, expressive reading and simple speaking confidence.

Week 1｜A New Season Begins — Spring
從 Frog and Toad 兩位主角出發，帶領學生進入春天的故事世界。課堂會透過圖片觀察、情節預測和 shared reading，引導學生理解季節變化與角色互動，並學習 warm, light, meadow, shining, melting 等詞彙。學生也會練習用不同語氣朗讀角色對話，並透過故事排序活動掌握情節發展。

Week 2｜Telling Stories — The Story

全新 《批判性思考與寫作：時事議題 4》，專為 10–13 歲學生設計。課程選取最近半年期間的最新國際新聞事件 作為討論素材，引導學生用英文理解世界、分析資訊、建立觀點。主題將圍繞 AI 與青少年安全、郵輪病毒爆發與隔離爭議、復育滅絕動物、動物溝通與科學倫理等中立而具啟發性的議題，訓練學生分辨事實、觀點與證據，辨識媒體語言，並以清晰、有邏輯的英文表達看法。

ＯSMO English is launching Critical Thinking & Current Affairs, a course for students aged 10–13. Using recent international news from December 2025 to June 2026, students will discuss topics such as AI safety, environmental influence, de-extinction, and animal communication ethics.
