【Borderline Personality Disorder: Diagnostic and Treatment Consideration】
Borderline personality disorder (BPD) is a mental health diagnosis that is often misunderstood and highly stigmatized. The diagnosis is characterized by pervasive instability in moods, interpersonal relationships, self-image, and behavior, which can affect interactions with others.
This workshop, titled "Borderline Personality Disorder: Diagnostic and Treatment Consideration", aims to enhance understanding of the nature and symptoms of BPD. Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), an evidence-based treatment model for BPD, and its underpinning theoretical principles will also be introduced and discussed. Our objective is to empower mental health professionals with the knowledge and skills necessary to support women with BPD, enhancing therapeutic outcomes, and ultimately improving their quality of life.

【Understanding Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder and Anxiety Disorder: Clinical Presentation and Implications on Psychological Treatment】
Historically, the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM) classified both Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) and Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD) as anxiety disorders. However, in 2013, the DSM’s fifth edition redefined their classification, separating them into distinct chapters.
This workshop provides an overview of OCD and GAD (i.e., causes, presenting symptoms and treatment), and highlights the differences between the two mental disorders, aiming to equip mental health professionals with accurate knowledge for their clinical work.

【Low Intensity Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Women with At-Risk Mental State: Introduction & Skills Training Workshop】
"At-risk Mental State” (ARMS) refers to a preclinical state that people have mild psychotic symptoms temporarily. Early intervention can prevent people from developing psychotic disorders. Our team has developed a low-intensity online intervention for women with ARMS based on cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT). The workshop aims to introduce our low intensity online intervention and to equip mental health professionals with knowledge and skills in conducting LiCBT.

Tsuen Kwai Tsing Youth Mental Health 3rd District Seminar on Schooling Difficulties
Aims:
To raise awareness on schooling difficulties and promote early intervention strategies for supporting these young individuals

Brief Introduction:
In recent years, the prevalence of schooling difficulties among youths has become a growing concern for school personnel and helping professionals. Many youths with mental distress or disorders encounter barriers such as school refusal or phobia, hindering their educational progress. To prevent social isolation and facilitate their re-engagement with society, it is crucial for these individuals to receive transitional care that focuses on enhancing their self-regulation on mental health and rebuilding trust and security within themselves, their families, and society.
The two-day program will incorporate with some essential elements, such as youth co-creation and a narrative practice-oriented approach. We will share insights from a documentation study on effectively supporting youths facing these challenges, along with preliminary findings from the program evaluation conducted by The University of Hong Kong.
This seminar provides a valuable platform for various stakeholders to learn from each other and exchange ideas. We sincerely hope that you will be able to attend and contribute to this important discussion.

Abstract:
A brief review of current socioeconomic trends affecting medicine and society in general will be followed by a reminder of current tasks before mental health workers. Many of these will remain among the responsibilities of mental health workers who will, in addition to accept other tasks such as primary prevention of mental disorders, the promotion of mental health understood as the elevation of mental health higher on the scales of values of individuals and societies, the management of comorbidity of mental and physical disorders, and the action against the dehumanization of an ever more fragmented medicine. The changes in the manner of selection of candidates for health care professions and in the education of health workers necessary to deal with the previous and new tasks of medicine will be described in the final part of the talk.
