[Highlights of Prof. Zhuofeng Ke & Prof. Liu Yan’s Seminars ]
We were delighted to host two inspiring seminars for Prof. Zhuofeng Ke & Prof. Liu Yan on 12 Aug 2026.
Prof. Zhuofeng Ke (School of Materials Science & Engineering, Sun Yat Sen University) presented "Automated Reaction Pathway Generation and AI Driven Catalysis Design." He showcased ARplorer and related data driven strategies for automated reaction exploration, virtual high throughput reaction screening, and AI assisted design of sustainable homogeneous catalysts — tools that accelerate discovery and guide green catalysis development.
Prof. Liu Yan (School of Chemical Engineering and Light Industry, Guangdong University of Technology) presented "Development of Copper specific Chelator as potential Anti Alzheimer's Disease and Wilson's Disease Drugs." Her work described chelators that cross the blood–brain barrier to modulate cerebral copper, reduce oxidative stress, inhibit Aβ aggregation and tau hyperphosphorylation, restore synaptic plasticity and memory, and promote biliary copper excretion to protect hepatic and neurological function.
We thank both speakers for their cutting-edge contributions and our colleagues and students for joining. Stay tuned for more seminars.

[Showcasing Excellence at ASGH 2026]
We are thrilled to share that Prof. Kelvin Leung was invited to present his research, “NPC Plasma Predictor,” at the Asia Summit on Global Health 2026. 💡
The research addresses the challenge of diagnosis in nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC), where early symptoms are minimal and current methods may be invasive or miss cases. By combining plasma metallomics with advanced ML algorithms and SHAP-based interpretability, Prof. Leung’s group developed a minimally invasive, highly accurate blood test that detects early NPC through subtle elemental signatures. This innovation supports large-scale screening, enables earlier intervention, and ultimately improves patient outcomes while reducing healthcare costs. 🎓

[Event Highlight]
A Mini-Symposium on Emerging Contaminants and Human Health: Towards Sustainable Solutions was held on 14 April 2026. Emerging contaminants are chemicals that pose potential or confirmed risks to the environment or human health, but lack published health criteria.
Six distinguished experts delivered insightful talks on water treatment, microplastics, and other environmentally threatening contaminants. The event highlighted the practical impact of scientific research in addressing real‑world environmental and health challenges.
Stay tuned for more mini-symposium series to come!
