🎉 We are excited to announce that our BBA-Economics programme has entered into a direct admission agreement with the School of Economics at the Singapore Management University (SMU) — an institution internationally recognised for its world-class research and teaching excellence! 🌏✨

Under this agreement, graduates of HSUHK’s BBA-Economics programme are eligible for direct admission to the following three master programmes at SMU:

The key requirements are:
✅ A BBA-Economics degree from HSUHK with a GPA of 3.0 or above
✅ A minimum GMAT score of 600 (or 555 on the GMAT Focus Edition), a minimum GRE score of 312, or passing the SMU Admissions Test

✨ BBA Econ Talk: How to Become a Chief Economist? 📈
Speaker: Thomas Shik, Former Chief Economist of Hang Seng Bank 👔

The BBA Econ Programme recently organized an online talk on February 5, delivered by Mr. Thomas Shik, former Chief Economist of Hang Seng Bank. Mr. Shik joined the bank in 2007 and was promoted to Chief Economist and Head of Economic Research for Global Markets in 2017, a position he held until 2025.

In the talk, Mr. Shik shared valuable insider insights into the nature of a Chief Economist’s work, as well as how the role continues to add value in the era of artificial intelligence 🤖. He emphasized the importance of lifelong learning 📚, staying informed about current developments, maintaining a serious and professional attitude, and cultivating strong reasoning skills—qualities that are essential across many professions.

The event attracted not only students from HSUHK but also online participants from several secondary schools, including Diocesan Girls’ School, St. Paul’s College, and Victoria Shanghai Academy 🏫.

Serving as a supporting event for the BBA Econ Career Accelerator Program and the Future Economist Program 🌐, the talk provided BBA Econ students with a valuable opportunity to connect 🤝 with and learn from a leading professional in the industry.

The BBA-Economics Career Accelerator Mentorship Program (CAMP) conducted its first coffee chat gathering on February 2 in the Create, M+. The coffee chat helps our BBA-Econ students connect with and learn from industry leaders and top minds in a casual environment. 🤝🏻

*薛先生於 2007 年加入恒生銀行，並於 2017 年獲晉升為環球資本市場經濟研究部主管兼首席經濟師。薛先生專長於宏觀經濟研究，主要職責包括研究分析歐美、內地及香港之經濟發展、提供經濟預測及撰寫研究報告。薛先生曾研究探討之議題包括 2008 年美國金融危機、歐洲債務問題、日本貨幣政策及內地金融改革。薛先生以一級榮譽畢業於香港科技大學，主修經濟及金融，並擁有香港中文大學經濟學碩士學位。
