1-2 Oct 2022, IAIE International Conference 2022
Our team members, Dr Jan Gube, Ms Terri Chan and Ms Eunice Chau have presented papers at the IAIE International Conference 2022, hosted by Hellenic Open University in Greece.
The first presentation was entitled "Teaching teachers about cultural diversity: An analysis of diversity representation in teacher education courses". This involved a curriculum analysis of Teacher Education Programme at EdUHK. Results suggested that while most programmes featured content related to diversity, the meanings varied from tackling cultural/ethnic differences to diversity of bodily ableness and learning abilities.
The second presentation was entitled "Preparing pre-service teachers for diverse classrooms: Semantic movements and pro-diversity attitudes", which featured a semantic analysis of videos produced by pre-service teachers. It showed the participants engaged in semantic movements that represent pro-diversity attitudes, which may offer clues about potential forms of semiotic regulation.
The exchange of ideas among international scholars provided our team members with another perspective to enhance our initiative, with the aim to achieve equity in an inclusive learning environment for all students in Hong Kong.

Globally Minded Community Learning Programme!
In the last academic year, we initiated Globally Minded Teacher Learning Programme to support a group of pre-service teachers studying at EdUHK. This initiative received positive feedback from these pre-service teachers who showed greater cultural sensitivity and global mindset through their participation in our programme. This year, we hope to bring this programme to engage local schools and NGOs, who are the frontline practitioners in our community.
Prizes included a certificate issued by EdUHK, and up to 12 ELAT hours (for EdUHK students only). The winning teams in the competition will be awarded a maximum of $5,000 shopping vouchers.

Participants included EdUHK communities and friends from other universities, NGOs, and the education sector. We all got fruitful insights from the sharing!
