It is with heavy hearts that we share the news of our dear colleague Beelan’s passing earlier this week.
Beelan brought so much life and energy to our team. Beelan was a truly passionate and joyful person who had a remarkable ability to spread enthusiasm wherever he went.
No matter the circumstances, we all know that life can be unpredictable, and sometimes bad things happen to the best of us.
Let’s all take a page from Beelan’s book and cherish every moment we have. His spirit reminds us to embrace each day with positivity and kindness.
Though he may no longer be with us, Beelan will always hold a special place in our hearts. He will be missed deeply but never forgotten.
Take care of yourselves and each other.

What do you do when you're faced with a challenge?
Adversity is easier to overcome with friends...
When our students coasteered they encountered lots of unfamiliar situations and challenges.
Working together, supporting each other, communicating positively, they learnt how to face these challenges and overcome them.

Let’s face it, we love snacks, but snacks sometimes don't love us!
Making some small changes can really add up to make a big difference.
Check out our recipe for kale crisps.
1: Preheat the oven to 225 degrees F (107 C). Use
2: Rinse and thoroughly dry the kale, then tear it into small pieces and discard any large stems.
3: Add to a large mixing bowl and drizzle with olive oil and seasonings of choice. Mix thoroughly.
4: Spread the kale over 2 large baking sheets, ensuring the kale touches as little as possible to help them crisp while baking.
5: Bake for 10-15 minutes and toss them to make sure they are baking evenly.
6: Bake until the kale is crispy or until slightly golden brown.
7: Remove from oven and let it cool for a bit (they will crisp up more when they are out of the oven).
8: You can eat immediately or store for up to 3 days.

“It is easier to learn a bad habit than to break one. It is easier to break a good habit than to learn one.” — Evelyn E. Smith
Here is a detailed explanation of how habits are formed:
1. Habits are formed via neural pathways in the brain:
- When you first learn to ride a bike, it takes a lot of effort and concentration. But with practice, your brain forms and strengthens a neural pathway that makes it easier for you to ride without thinking too much about it.
2. The pathways are reinforced by frequent repetition:
- If you want to form a habit of going for a daily walk, you need to do it consistently. The more you repeat the action, the stronger the neural pathway becomes, and the easier it becomes to go for a walk every day.
3. Over time, an action becomes almost automatic:
- If you consistently check your phone as soon as you wake up, you might find that you soon do it automatically without even thinking about it. This is because the habit has become so ingrained in your routine.
4. Emotional responses can influence habit strength:
- If you have a habit of eating junk food when you're stressed, you might find when you're feeling anxious or upset you have the urge to eat junk food. This is because your brain associates the habit with a positive emotional response (feeling better after eating) even if it's not actually good for you.
5. Intentional habit creation can be improved by being aware of the process:
- If you want to form a new habit of reading before bed, you can improve your chances of success by being intentional about the process.
This could involve setting a specific time to read each night, choosing a book that you enjoy and reminding yourself why you want to read – having a reason is the most important factor in building a habit.
By being aware of the process, you can make it easier to form new habits and stick to them over time.
