💬 What is Sustaining Attention?

🤓 Sustaining attention refers to the ability to maintain concentration on a specific activity for a period of time,
a crucial skill for the learner to focus on tasks, engage with their surroundings, and learn effectively! 🧠✨

🔴 What to Expect by Age:

⭐ Toddlers (1-3 years): At this stage, children can typically focus on a single activity for a few minutes. They might enjoy simple games or look at picture books, but their attention can easily shift.

⭐ Preschoolers (4-5 years): Preschoolers can sustain attention for longer periods, around 10-15 minutes. They begin to engage in more complex play and group activities, making it a great time to introduce structured activities.

⭐ Early Elementary (6-8 years): Children can maintain attention for 20-30 minutes, especially when involved in subjects they find interesting. This age is ideal for introducing more challenging tasks that require sustained focus like group projects.

👦 In this task, the child was learning to replicate the blocks by their shapes and colors in the right sequence. He practiced multiple skills at a time:

🔴 Visual tracking between the materials;
🔵 Integrating two components at a time (both shapes and colors) and
⚫ Sustaining attention for task completion.

Following the Chinese New Year, we set up the wonderful opportunity for our Social Club members to share their experiences with one another! 🎉

💬 Why It Matters:

During these sharing sessions, our young speakers practiced essential skills that will benefit them for years to come. They learned the importance of their eye contact, honed their communication skills, engaged with their audience by taking questions, and embraced the spotlight with confidence. These experiences are crucial for developing their confidence when facing a larger group of audience.

🌟 Exploring Social Thinking at Kids Connect! 🌟

💯 At Kids Connect, we believe in nurturing social skills through engaging and interactive learning experiences. In our recent session of the Social Thinking Program, children were introduced to the concept of Smart Guess through a delightful story featuring penguins! 🐧✨

🎨 To reinforce this vital concept, we took it a step further. Our girl dove into making the character real by making her own penguin character! This hands-on approach not only made the learning process enjoyable but also allowed them to retell the story, consolidating their understanding of Smart Guess in a creative way.

🧠 By integrating storytelling, art, and collaborative discussions, we create a multi-faceted learning environment. This method resonates with children, helping them internalize key concepts more effectively. It encourages them to think critically and apply what they’ve learned in real-life situations, fostering confidence and social awareness.

The weather is beautiful and our children had a wonderful learning trip at the outdoor space! ✨🌿 They had a blast while honing their skills and embracing new experiences. Here's a glimpse of what they accomplished:

⚽ Gross Motor Skills: The outdoor space provided the perfect playground for our children to enhance their gross motor skills. From running and jumping to competing and racing, they engaged in various physical activities that contributed to their overall motor development.

🏆 Games and Social Skills: Through games and interactive activities, our children sharpened their game skills while nurturing their social skills. They learned to practice fair play, sportsmanship, and effective communication, fostering meaningful connections with their peers.

🏞️ Community Skills: Our young learners also learned to increase their social awareness in diverse settings. They interacted positively with others and were learning the expected behaviors in different setting!

🔄 Flexibility: Our little adventurers were also developing their flexibility by adapting to changes in their schedule and many new ideas! They embraced spontaneity and were eager to explore new activities.

🧹🍊 Did you know that cleaning plays a significant role in Chinese New Year preparations? On the 28th day of the lunar calendar, families around the world engage in the tradition of thorough cleaning, known as “sweeping the dust.”

✨ Sweeping away the old year’s dust symbolizes clearing out bad luck and making way for good fortune and blessings in the coming year. It’s a time to refresh and rejuvenate our homes and spirits.

🧽🏠 At Kids Connect, we had the cutest little helpers practicing this tradition! Our children enthusiastically joined in the cleaning frenzy, sweeping floors and dusting with such excitement and joy.

🌸🌱 Watching them practicing and building their awareness of this cultural tradition is valuable to us. They learned teamwork, responsibility, and taking care of their surroundings.

Get ready to be amazed by the fun setup and imagination of our little superstars!

At Kids Connect, we always transform our setting to imaginative spaces to inspire and facilitate the children’s play and social development! With the special props, our children dived into being the customers and cashiers, practicing their conversations and expected behaviors when making their orders!

Every detail adds to the authentic touch to their pretend play, and we meticulously arranged to ensure an immersive experience for the children! :)

💖💖 Heartwarming Act of Kindness 💖💖

We are so proud of our group of amazing children who dedicated their time to bring smiles to the faces of our beloved elderly citizens! 🧓🏻👴🏼

The children personally delivered almost 20 curated goodie bags filled with snack, heartfelt card and drinks to the elderly. They were welcomed by many of them and were invited to sit down for causal chats. The elderlies appreciated their gestures and sweetness. ❤️ The room was filled with stories and heartwarming conversations bridging the generational gap. 💖🧓🏻👧🏻

We hope these small acts of kindness continue to grow up with our children through our Character Building Program from our Social Club! 😊😊
