๐๐ World Environment Day 2026 ๐๐
Winfer Gardens Primary School is proud to celebrate World Environment Day as two of our students, Anastasia Europe and Kathleena Klass joined the Environmental Walk hosted by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) on Sunday June 5, 2026.
Walking alongside representatives from Iwokrama, the Prime Minister's Office, Environmental Conservation Management Foundation (EMC), Protected Areas Commission (PAC), Caribbean Youth Environment Network (CYEN), University of Guyana (UG), University of Guyana Female Empowerment Movement (UGFEM) and several others, our young environmental ambassadors demonstrated their commitment to protecting and preserving Guyana's rich natural heritage.
As proud Guyanese, we continue to inspire our students to be responsible stewards of the environment, promoting sustainability, conservation, and a greener future for generations to come.
๐ฑ Together, we can make a difference for our planet.

๐๐ World Environment Day 2026 | Winfer Gardens Primary School ๐๐
Today marked an exciting milestone as our students participated in the first session of the Winfer Gardens Primary School Environmental Club, "WGP Eco Education Friday". Through engaging discussions and activities, our young environmental stewards began their journey of learning about conservation, sustainability, and the important role they can play in protecting our planet.
We extend our sincere gratitude to the Environmental Conservation Management (EMC) Foundation for spearheading the E-STEM programme for many environmental clubs across Guyana especially ours, and to the Ministry of Education for supporting this meaningful initiative. Special recognition is also given to the EMC Foundation's E-STEM Program, which is being implemented with the support of the ExxonMobil Foundation.
As we celebrate World Environment Day, we are proud to empower our students with the knowledge and skills needed to become future environmental leaders and champions for a greener Guyana. ๐ฌ๐พ๐ฑ

๐ง We have over 800 rivers, creeks, and waterways
๐ฆ The magnificent Blue Morpho Butterfly calls Guyana home
๐ข Shell Beach is one of the world's important sea turtle nesting sites
๐ Our forests help absorb millions of tons of carbon, making Guyana a global environmental champion!
From the mighty Pomeroon River to the breathtaking Amazon Rainforest and majestic Guyana Shield, we celebrate the natural treasures that make us proud to be Guyanese.

Rangers from the Protected Areas Commission (PAC) have documented a rare sighting of the Olive Ridley Sea Turtle, the first sighting of this species in Guyana since 2020.
According to the PAC, the rangers were on patrol at the Shell Beach Protected Area (SBPA) when they came across a nesting Olive Ridley Sea turtle.
As the smallest of all marine turtles, Olive Ridleys are named for their olive-green, heart-shaped shells. According to the PAC, the sighting reinforces their commitment to safeguarding Guyanaโs biodiversity.
โThis reinforces the vital importance of wildlife conservation for safeguarding endangered marine life,โ they further said.
