2026 Sherjoy’s Career Day – Mini Job Fair 👷🏽‍♀️👩🏽‍⚕️👨🏽‍🍳🚒🔧🚛

What an exciting and educational day at Sherjoy Group of Schools! Our students stepped into the world of work as parents and special guests transformed our school into a vibrant Mini Job Fair, giving our children hands-on experiences with a variety of careers and professions.

Throughout the day, students had the opportunity to explore and learn about:

🔨 Masonry – mixing mortar and learning about building and construction.

🪚 Carpentry – discovering the tools, skills, and creativity needed to build and repair structures.

🔧 Mechanics – exploring vehicle maintenance, tools, and problem-solving techniques.

🚛 Heavy-Duty Truck Operations & Transportation – climbing aboard a massive truck, sitting in the driver’s seat, learning about vehicle safety, transportation, and the important role truck operators play in our country.

💅 Nail Technology & Beauty Services – learning about self-care, creativity, and entrepreneurship in the beauty industry.

👩🏽‍🍳 Baking & Culinary Arts – measuring, mixing, cooking, and preparing delicious treats while learning valuable kitchen skills.

⚕️ Medical Professionals – learning about healthcare careers and the importance of helping others stay healthy.

🚒 Firefighting & Emergency Services – understanding safety, responsibility, and community service.

👮🏽 Law Enforcement & Protective Services – learning about discipline, public safety, and serving the community.

💡 Technology & Electronics – exploring tools, equipment, and careers in the technical field.

📚 Teaching & Early Childhood Education – participating in engaging learning activities and experiencing what it takes to educate young minds.

One of the most exciting parts of the day was the visit from a heavy-duty truck operator. Students eagerly climbed into the cab, explored the controls, sat in the driver’s seat, and learned firsthand about careers in transportation and logistics. The smiles on their faces said it all!

The highlight of the day, however, was seeing our students actively engaged, asking questions, trying new skills, dressing as future professionals, and imagining the many possibilities available to them in the future.

A heartfelt thank you to all of our amazing parents, volunteers, and professionals who gave of their time, expertise, equipment, and resources to make this event such a tremendous success. Your dedication helped bring learning to life and inspired our students to dream big.

From firefighters and police officers to mechanics, masons, carpenters, bakers, beauticians, healthcare workers, technicians, teachers, and truck operators, our students discovered that every career plays an important role in building a stronger community.

At Sherjoy, we continue to believe that today’s learners are tomorrow’s leaders.

Sherjoy Group of Schools Extends Its Deepest Sympathy

It is with heavy hearts that the Sherjoy Group of Schools joins the Simpson family in mourning the passing of their beloved father, Corporal Bert Alexander Simpson.

As a school family, we were deeply saddened to learn of his passing. Our thoughts and prayers are especially with Prince and Princess Simpson, cherished students of our school, as they navigate this difficult time. Losing a parent is a tremendous loss, and we pray that God’s love, comfort, and strength will surround them in the days ahead.

We also extend our heartfelt condolences to their mother, grandmother, relatives, friends, colleagues of the Guyana Defence Force, and all who knew and loved him. During this season of grief, may they find peace in the precious memories they shared and comfort in the support of family, friends, and community.

Members of the Sherjoy family were honored to attend both the wake and funeral service as a small expression of our love, support, and solidarity with the Simpson family. We continue to stand with them in prayer.

May God wrap His loving arms around Prince, Princess, and their entire family, granting them strength for today and hope for tomorrow. May the soul of Corporal Bert Alexander Simpson rest in eternal peace.

“The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” — Psalm 34:18

2026 Sherjoy’s Last Day of School 💙💛

Today, we closed off our term with a joyful celebration of World Down Syndrome Day, reminding our children of the importance of love, inclusion, and embracing differences.

Our students had an amazing time participating in fun animal races, hopping like frogs, walking like crabs, and waddling like penguins, filling the day with laughter and excitement!

They also created colourful paper socks, representing how unique and special each person is. To extend the experience, students were paired with classmates from different classes, encouraging interaction, friendship, and unity across our school family.

As we end this term, we are proud to continue nurturing children who understand that everyone belongs and everyone matters.

💙💛 Different, not less. 💛💙

2026 Sherjoy’s Annual Tour on Monuments and Landmarks🇬🇾

Our Grade Five and Four took part in Sherjoy Group of Schools’ Annual Tour, a meaningful educational experience designed to help students connect with Guyana’s history, culture, and national heritage.

During the tour, students visited several important landmarks around Georgetown, including historic monuments, national heritage sites, and cultural spaces. These experiences help our learners see history beyond the classroom while building appreciation for the people, events, and traditions that shaped our nation.

From the 1823 Monument, Umana Yana, Kingston Seawall Esplanade, Guyana National Museum, and other iconic locations, our students explored, learned, and reflected on the rich story of Guyana.

At Sherjoy, we believe education goes beyond textbooks. Activities like these allow our students to experience learning firsthand, develop national pride, and prepare confidently for the future.

✨ The next generation of NGSA students continues the tradition!
