The aim of the association is to improve the living conditions of residents in Kwakwani by making forest and farm lands available to members and others, whilst developing the skill set of members, specifically and the community in general to exploit available economic opportunities. The UBFAPA has approximately 185 members. The association represents mostly small lumber producers and residents of Kwakwani and from time to time, Ituni, Hururu and Aroiama. On several occasions, the UBFAPA has also taken initiative to facilitate developmental works in and around Kwakwani. The association is run by an Executive Body headed by: a Chairman, 1st Vice Chairman, 2nd Vice Chairman, Secretary, Assistant Secretary, Treasurer, Assistant Treasurer, five Committee members and three Trustees. Members and staff of this Association frequently attend training offered by the Guyana Forest Commission (GFC) , the Forestry Training Centre (FTC) and other organisations. Presently, the association employs a staff of ten individuals including an Office Manager, Clerks, Rangers, Project Coordinator and Accountant. The UBFAPA has taken the initiative to train rangers in Forest Management, Forest Inventory and Reduced Impact Logging to assist the GFC in the application of its rules and regulations. Thus, proving that the association in capable of facilitating any operation whether small or large. The Association also plays and important role in the Kwakwani Community development. The Association assist teachers with a monthly stipend, employed a teacher at Kwakwani Primary School to attend to more student. The Association also attend to other phrases in the community's development including sports, health etc. Th e Assocation is also the proud sponsor of Kwakwani Basket Ball Team.
