📌 Preparing for the Future: Bartica Secondary School Hosts Grade 8 CVQ Orientation and Streaming Exercise
Today, Bartica Secondary School took a proactive step toward equipping its students with valuable technical and vocational skills by hosting an essential Caribbean Vocational Qualification (CVQ) Orientation Exercise for Grade 8 students and their parents.
The session focused on the upcoming streaming process for the CVQ program, which officially commences in September 2026 when these students transition into Grade 9.
To ensure a smooth transition and well-informed choices, parents were provided with comprehensive informational packages, including:
-CVQ Program Guidelines detailing the available elective pathways.
-Safety Contracts outlining the professional standards required in the workshops.
-Streaming Selection Forms to officially indicate the student's chosen elective.
Each family received these materials in a dedicated folder, allowing parents and students to sit down together, review the options, and collaboratively select the technical path that best aligns with the student's career goals and interests.
The Department of Education commends the administration, staff, and parents of Bartica Secondary School for their commitment to fostering strong home-school partnerships and promoting technical and vocational excellence.

It was an incredible three days session at the Bartica Diverse Learning Center as our teachers engaged in specialized training on the II-Curriculum, a dedicated framework designed to support learners with Intellectual Disabilities.
We were honoured to have Mrs. Savvie Hopkinson, National Special Education Needs Officer, working alongside Mr. Stefon Dass, Education Officer-Special Education Needs Officer a.g.(Region 7), to deliver this vital training.
The teaching methodologies shared were truly inspiring, providing our educators with the practical tools and strategies needed to ensure every child, regardless of their learning needs, has the opportunity to succeed.
