As we prepare to celebrate Education Month 2026, the Ministry of Education is pleased to announce this year’s theme: "𝐅𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐂𝐥𝐚𝐬𝐬𝐫𝐨𝐨𝐦𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐬, 𝐄𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐬 𝐋𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐬.”

In honour of Pre-Emancipation, the staff of the Department of Education came together in full cultural wear for a day of team building and fellowship. A delicious menu was cooked up by the team, featuring the traditional dish cook-up alongside fun activities and vibrant traditional attire as we celebrated the spirit, history, and unity that bind us together.

​Here’s to honouring our African roots, celebrating freedom, and growing stronger together as a team.

Empowering the next generation of leaders.

​The delegates vying for the Little Miss Africa 2026 crown, alongside our reigning queen, paid an inspiring courtesy visit to the Department of Education.

​They were warmly received by the Regional Education Officer and other Officers for an uplifting conversation on youth empowerment, education, and leadership.

🕊️ In Loving Memory of Adans Williams 🕊️

​It is with heavy hearts that the Department of Education extends our deepest condolences, sympathy, and prayers to the family, loved ones, and friends of young Adans Williams, who attended St. Anthony’s Primary School and also the nephew of the late Headteacher of Three Miles Secondary School Mr. Daniel Williams.

​The loss of a precious student from our school community is a pain felt deeply across our region. Though his journey was far too short, Adans will always be remembered and held close in our hearts. We hope his mother, father and family find comfort, strength, and closure during this immensely difficult time.

​We also stand united in prayer with the people of Region One, our fellow hinterland region, as we surround you with love, compassion, and solidarity.

​To everyone who kept Adans and his family in their thoughts and prayers, thank you for your overwhelming support and kindness.

Educators for the Renewed Curriculum

This week marked a major milestone as the remaining Grade 4 and Grade 5 teachers from the Upper Mazaruni area were engaged in the intensive, week-long renewed curriculum training exercise! With this final cohort, all primary schools across Region 7 have now successfully participated in this transformative professional development.

Facilitated by dedicated Education Officers from the National Centre for Educational Resource Development (NCERD), the sessions focused on delivering dynamic, interactive classroom strategies for Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, and Language Arts. The training was further bolstered by the strong presence, guidance, and unwavering support of our regional leadership.

A heartfelt thank you to our Regional Leadership, Central Officers, NCERD facilitators, and brilliant educators. Your collaboration and dedication made this an incredibly successful week of preparation for the future of our students! 📚✏️
