The Guam Department of Education (GDOE) would like to inform the island community that students will begin classes for school year (SY) 2023-2024 on Wednesday, August 23, 2023.

Originally slated to begin Wednesday, August 9, the start date was delayed two weeks to allow our Facilities & Maintenance team to bring as many schools as possible into compliance with Public Law 37-4.

Teachers will report to work sites on Friday, August 4, 2023.

The GDOE team is updating the SY 2023-2024 calendar and will post the revised SY 2023-2024 calendar on the official website and its social media accounts within the week.

Parents and guardians are encouraged to contact their children’s schools for more specific information.

Update on registration times are now 8am to 12noon

Scan the QR code for the updated listings of Phase I, Phase II, and Phase III schools!

Lists were updated as of Monday, July 17, 2023.

Last week, the Guam Department of Education (GDOE) hosted two (2) community input sessions for the public to attend either online or in-person.

The GDOE leadership team discussed the “phase-in” approach to in-person learning based on ongoing school assessments and the progress of recovery efforts.

Based on a thorough review of school assessments, and in consultation with school principals, staff, and the Facilities & Maintenance division, schools were classified into one of three phases relative to their readiness for opening for in-person instruction.

The description for each phase is as follows:

Phase I schools are projected to be ready as scheduled on August 9, 2023, or no more than two weeks later.

Phase I schools: 14

Phase II schools are projected to be ready three weeks to two months later than the scheduled start date of August 9, 2023.

Phase II schools: 13

Phase III schools are projected to be ready three months or more later than the scheduled start date of August 9, 2023.

Phase III: 12 schools
