If you walk through the streets of Latvia right now, you’ll smell the fresh oak leaves, hear the echoing Līgo songs, and see the glow of midsummer bonfires. It’s Jāņi—the ultimate celebration of nature, light, and community!

But what does a centuries-old solstice tradition have to do with youth empowerment and digital literacy? Everything.

At its heart, Jāņi is all about connection. It’s the time of year when people gather around the fire, share stories, and pass down traditions from one generation to the next. And that is exactly what we are building with the Multi Minds project!

Where Tradition Meets Youth Collaboration:
Meeting Peer to Peer: Just like gathering around the Jāņi fire, our project is a space where youth from different backgrounds and countries come together. It’s a platform to meet new friends, exchange ideas, and collaborate on the future.

Unlocking Youth Expression: Highlights from the Multi Minds Literacy Toolbox! 🌟

As part of the Erasmus+ project "Youth’s Creative Voice in Modern Media Language" (2024-2-ES02-KA220-YOU-000270455), our partners have been piloting IO2 – the Multi Minds Literacy Toolbox. This modular guide helps youth workers and young people aged 16-30 master multimodal literacy to communicate clearly, critically, and creatively in today’s media-saturated world.

Curious about how we're doing it? Here are two activities making waves:

1️⃣ Blindfolded Sound Navigation (Auditory Literacy): Participants rely purely on auditory cues to move through space and interact, building spatial listening skills and trust while highlighting how we orient ourselves through sound.

2️⃣ My Life in 5 Icons (Visual Literacy): This module encourages youth to express their identity using only five visual symbols, exploring how colors, shapes, and composition communicate deep feelings quickly.
