Thriving Schools: reflecting on Year 1

During the last academic year, participating schools across Cyprus, Greece, Italy and Romania began implementing a whole-school approach to well-being, with ongoing support to develop and carry out activities involving students, teachers, parents and the wider school community.

As we prepare for the next phase, Newsletter 2 looks back at the training, school-level work and progress made so far.

What does it take for a school to truly thrive? 🌱

Not just academic results, but wellbeing that's built into everyday school life, for students and teachers alike.

That's the idea behind our Thriving Schools Framework, which brings together three complementary models into one whole-school approach:

🌱 PERMA identifies what wellbeing looks like (Positive emotions, Engagement, Relationships, Meaning, Accomplishment)
🤝 SEL builds the social & emotional skills to get there
🏫 SWPBS turns it into consistent, everyday practice across the whole school

Instead of adding another programme to an already busy school day, the Framework helps schools weave wellbeing into teaching, relationships and routines that already exist.

As the new school year approaches, now's a good time to revisit what wellbeing looks like in practice.
