We were glad to welcome Christos Paschalidis in the Alumni of the BRAIN and MIND Sciences Seminar Series. Christos is a PhD candidate at the Medical School of the University of Crete and the Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology (IMBB), FORTH. He presented his work on the geometric properties of neural population responses underlying object coding across rodent visual areas. We wish him every success in his research.

We were honored to host Iakovos Lazaridis for the Alumni BRAIN and MIND Sciences Seminar Series. Iakovos, a Research Scientist at the McGovern Institute for Brain Research at MIT, presented a dual-architecture framework for dopamine regulation in basal ganglia circuits, highlighting how striosomal pathways and astrocyte-mediated feedback jointly shape dopamine dynamics to support reinforcement learning and behavioral flexibility.

🎓 Το δι-ιδρυματικό, διεπιστημονικό Πρόγραμμα Μεταπτυχιακών Σπουδών «Εγκέφαλος & Νους» ανακοινώνει την έναρξη της περιόδου υποβολής αιτήσεων για το ακαδημαϊκό έτος 2026–2027.

🧠 Σε μια εποχή όπου η κατανόηση του εγκεφάλου αποτελεί ένα από τα σημαντικότερα επιστημονικά πεδία παγκοσμίως, το πρόγραμμα «Εγκέφαλος & Νους» φιλοδοξεί να εκπαιδεύσει μια νέα γενιά επιστημόνων, ικανών να συνδέουν τη βιολογία, τις υπολογιστικές μεθόδους και τη γνωσιακή επιστήμη.
Το πρόγραμμα υλοποιείται από το Πανεπιστήμιο Κρήτης- University of Crete και το Ίδρυμα Τεχνολογίας και Έρευνας (ΙΤΕ).
Κεντρικό στοιχείο του προγράμματος είναι η ενεργή εκπαίδευση στην έρευνα.🔬

It was a pleasure to host Alexandra Antoniadou as part of our Alumni BRAIN and MIND Sciences Seminar Series. Alexandra, now a PhD candidate at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona in Spain, shared how the MSc in Brain & Mind Sciences helped shape her academic path and spoke about her research on age-related changes in cortical dynamics underlying working memory. We wish her every success with her PhD journey!
