A new joint-research programme between 2 members of the Athena European University has been approved!
The proposal was submitted by Manolis Maravelakis from HMU and Sylvie Treuillet and Xavier Brunetaud from the University of Orleans in the framework of the Hubert Curien Cooperation Program, organized by IKY and supported by the French Embassy, the French Institute of Greece, the Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs (MEAE) and the Ministry of Higher Education, Research, and Innovation (MESRI) of France.
The title of the project is AI4HBIM – “Automatic stone-by-stone segmentation using Artificial Intelligence and images for diagnosis and BIM applications of Cultural Heritage Monuments" and it proposes the creation of an automated system for detecting damages and recognizing fundamental structural elements of monuments using artificial intelligence and computer vision techniques.
The project's duration will be 2 years and includes, in addition to collaborative research, the implementation of annual BIPs on advanced 3D digitization techniques, artificial intelligence, computer vision, and deep machine learning with applications in Cultural Heritage.
