🇪🇺 Yesterday, the European Law and Governance School (ELGS) visited the Institut International Saint Dominique de Rome, represented by Associate Professor Valentina Rita Scotti and Academic Affairs Officer Dimitris Tsaknis, to present ELGS's academic mission, programs, and the opportunities open to prospective students.
It was a great chance to engage young students in a meaningful discussion on the fundamental principles of European Union law and the values that shape the European community today. Together, participants explored the rule of law, European integration, and the role of EU institutions in advancing cooperation, democracy, and shared prosperity across Europe.
A warm thank you to the Institut Saint-Dominique and Professor Orianna Kelly-Saltaleggio for the welcome, and to the students for jumping into the discussion. 🙏

🌍 A special guest at our Cascais campus!
On 2 June, ELGS students had the privilege of welcoming H.E. Rhina Bardi, Ambassador of El Salvador to Portugal, for an insightful talk on the realities of modern diplomacy — from day-to-day diplomatic work to the growing role of economic and commercial diplomacy on the world stage.
Thank you, Ambassador Bardi, for your valuable insights! 🎓

🎓 A great start for the new ELGS LLM in AI, Ethics, Regulation and Innovation!
On 3 June 2026, the ELGS hosted its inaugural free online course — Regulating AI in the EU: From the AI Act's 'Green Silences' to Trustworthy Governance — bringing together experts and participants from across the legal, academic and policy communities.
Moderated by Associate Professor Dora Papadopoulou, the webinar explored how AI is transforming public governance, what the EU AI Act leaves unsaid on environmental sustainability, and how Europe is shaping trustworthy AI research policies — through the contributions of Prof. Susana de la Sierra, Dr. Mihalis Kritikos, and Dr. Enrico Buono.
The lively Q&A session confirmed what we already believe: the intersection of AI, law and ethics is one of the most important spaces for legal professionals and researchers today.
Missed it? Stay tuned — and find out more about the LLM program at 👉 https://www.elgs.eu/academia/postgraduate-studies/llm-in-ai-ethics-regulation-innovation/

Teresa Violante, Director of the EPLO Institute for the Global Rule of Law, Visiting Professor, joined the postgraduate students in Cascais for an informal dinner marking the end of this academic year's lecture period.
The second semester has flown by, and it was a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the students' hard work, achievements, and academic journey so far.
With lectures now completed, the students will sit their examinations next week before embarking on the next stage of their studies: independent research and the preparation of their dissertations. We wish all our students the very best in their exams and look forward to seeing the results of their research in the months ahead!

We are delighted to welcome students from The Fletcher School at Tufts 🇺🇸 to the EPLO headquarters in Plaka and the ELGS Premises in Legrena–Sounion for a two-month internship.
Over the coming weeks, they will engage with our community, take part in the work of the EPLO - European Public Law Organization, and contribute their perspectives in international affairs and diplomacy.
We look forward to all they will bring — and to everything they will take with them.
Welcome to Greece, welcome to the EPLO! 🇬🇷
