🍃 As part of , a two-day Climate event dedicated to the 𝗩𝗮𝗹𝗼𝗻𝗶𝗮 𝗢𝗮𝗸 𝗙𝗼𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗫𝗶𝗿𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗿𝗼 was successfully held on 22-23 May 2026, with the active participation of students, teachers and local citizens.

🌳 The event, organised by INZEB in its role as the 𝗘𝘂𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗮𝗻 𝗖𝗹𝗶𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗣𝗮𝗰𝘁 𝗖𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗿𝘆 𝗖𝗼𝗼𝗿𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗿 𝗶𝗻 𝗚𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗰𝗲, together with Ambassador and Mayor of Xiromero, 𝗜𝗼𝗮𝗻𝗻𝗶𝘀 𝗧𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗳𝘆𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗸𝗶𝘀, the 𝗠𝘂𝗻𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗽𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗫𝗶𝗿𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗿𝗼, and with the support of Europe Direct Region of Western Greece, aimed at raising awareness and mobilising the local community to protect one of Europe’s last great oak forests.

🗨️ Through workshops and the action "𝗧𝗮𝗹𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗠𝗮𝘆𝗼𝗿 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗰𝗹𝗶𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗲", elementary school students from Fyteies discussed about and its impact on the daily life, proposed and created their own climate messages.

🧑‍🦯‍➡️ High school students and local residents participated in a at the forest, interacting with the natural environment and understanding the effects of climate change on the local , , and local resources.

🗣️ An open discussion held at the 𝗠𝘂𝗻𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗽𝗮𝗹 𝗟𝗶𝗯𝗿𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗦𝗸𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘁𝗼𝘂, brought together adults and elderly residents to share stories and memories connected to the forest, highlighting its importance for the and the urgent need for its .

Bringing together representatives from the community, public institutions, research organisations and civil society, the event will take place as a small-scale structured dialogue among stakeholders working on the social dimensions of in Greece.

Emphasis will be placed on the challenges of implementing socially climate policies in the complex and evolving Greek policy environment.

Rather than serving as a policy or advocacy document, the report offers a structured mapping of diverse observations and perspectives emerging from this first Climate Policy Breakfast, contributing to the ongoing dialogue on the of the climate transition in Greece.

Launched in 2023, the CEESEN-BENDER project aims to empower vulnerable homeowners and renters living in Soviet-era multi-apartment buildings across Central & Eastern Europe. The project supports residents throughout the renovation process by identifying key barriers and developing support services for homeowners, homeowners’ associations, and building managers.
