Από την πρεσβεία προς τον Αχιλλέα και τη νυχτερινή ικεσία της οργής, έως τις σκιές, τα μυστικά και τις αποφάσεις που λαμβάνονται μέσα στο σκοτάδι, ο ομηρικός κόσμος ζωντανεύει μέσα από τον λόγο και τον ήχο της αρχαίας ελληνικής επτάχορδης λύρας.

Η αρχαία Ελληνική επτάχορδη Λύρα στη Θεσσαλονίκη.

Την Τρίτη 2 Ιουνίου, στις 20:00, το Κρατικό Ωδείο Θεσσαλονίκης και η International Lyre Society παρουσιάζουν, σε συμπαραγωγή, το ρεσιτάλ - παρουσίαση «Η Λύρα του Ορφέα | The Lyre of Orpheus» με τον Νίκο Ξανθούλη, στο πλαίσιο του Thessaloniki Art and Music Summit.

Μια βραδιά αφιερωμένη στον ήχο, την ιστορία και τη ζωντανή παρουσία της αρχαίας ελληνικής λύρας σήμερα - από τον μύθο του Ορφέα έως τη σύγχρονη μουσική πράξη.

Συμμετέχουν οι:
Αντώνης Σουσάμογλου, Κώστας Μακρυγιαννάκης, Σοφία Καρακούτα, Χρήστος Γρίμπας, Γιώργος Νίκας και Ηλίας Ζέρβας.

Στον χώρο θα πραγματοποιηθεί επίσης έκθεση λύρας από το οργανοποιείο PALMOS.

The Lyre’s Dream - at the Senate of Canada

A deeply symbolic moment for international project "The Lyre’s Dream", as the ancient Greek lyre and barbitos found their place at the heart of the Canadian Parliament.

Our heartfelt gratitude to Senator Leo Housakos, whose invitation, vision, and support made this extraordinary moment possible, as well as to his dedicated team for helping bring this project to life.

We were equally honored by the presence of Mr. Peters, Usher of the Black Rod, along with esteemed senators, ambassadors, and distinguished guests who joined us in this cultural encounter.

The Lyre’s Dream was created by Dr. Nikos Xanthoulis , who also arranged the music, performed, and presented the ancient lyre. The project was artistically directed by lyric singers Maria Diamantis and Dimitris Ilias(Chroma Musika), in collaboration with the International Lyre Society, the English Montreal School Board, the Sofia Session Orchestra, and the EMSB Chorale.

The Lyre’s Dream - στη Γερουσία του Καναδά

Μια βαθιά συμβολική στιγμή για το διεθνές πρότζεκτ "The Lyre’s Dream", καθώς η αρχαία ελληνική λύρα και η βάρβιτος βρέθηκαν στον πυρήνα του Καναδικού Κοινοβουλίου.

Θερμές ευχαριστίες στον Γερουσιαστή Leo Housakos, του οποίου η πρόσκληση, το όραμα και η υποστήριξη κατέστησαν δυνατή αυτή την ξεχωριστή στιγμή, καθώς και στην ομάδα του για τη συμβολή τους στην υλοποίηση του έργου.

Ιδιαίτερη τιμή αποτέλεσε η παρουσία του Mr. Peters, Usher of the Black Rod, καθώς και Γερουσιαστών, Πρεσβευτών και εκλεκτών προσκεκλημένων που συμμετείχαν σε αυτή τη συνάντηση πολιτισμών.

Το The Lyre’s Dream είναι δημιουργία του Δρ. Νικόλαου Ξανθούλη, ο οποίος επιμελήθηκε τις ενορχηστρώσεις, παρουσίασε και ερμήνευσε την αρχαία λύρα. Την καλλιτεχνική διεύθυνση είχαν οι λυρικοί τραγουδιστές Μαρία Διαμαντή και Δημήτρης Ηλίας, σε συνεργασία με το International Lyre Society, το English Montreal School Board, τη Sofia Session Orchestra και τη χορωδία EMSB.

Dialogues of Love

In April 2026, the International Lyre Society participates in "The Lyre’s Dream", an international artistic and educational project presented in Canada, bringing the ancient Greek lyre into dialogue with contemporary audiences and young performers.

A transatlantic celebration of art and learning, "The Lyre’s Dream" unites four countries through the timeless language of music. Created by Greek composer, lyrist, and researcher Dr. Nikos Xanthoulis, in collaboration with the English Montreal School Board (EMSB), and under the artistic direction of lyric singers Maria Diamantis and Dimitris Ilias (Chroma Musika), the project brings together the Sofia Session Orchestra, the EMSB Senior Chorale, and the International Lyre Society in a musical approach to ancient texts.

This performance presents a musical dialogue between fragments of Sappho’s poetry and selected verses from the Song of Songs, traditionally attributed to King Solomon, exploring love as a timeless human experience expressed through voice, music, and poetic language.

Through performance, education, and international collaboration, "The Lyre’s Dream" reflects the core mission of the International Lyre Society: to reintroduce the ancient Greek lyre as a living artistic and educational practice, bridging past and present through sound.

In April 2026, the International Lyre Society participates in "The Lyre’s Dream", an international artistic and educational project presented in Canada, bringing the ancient Greek lyre into dialogue with contemporary audiences and young performers.

A transatlantic celebration of art and learning, "The Lyre’s Dream" unites four countries through the timeless language of music. Created by Greek composer, lyrist, and researcher Dr. Nikos Xanthoulis, in collaboration with the English Montreal School Board (EMSB), and under the artistic direction of lyric singers Maria Diamantis and Dimitris Ilias (Chroma Musika), the project brings together the Sofia Session Orchestra, the EMSB Senior Chorale, and the International Lyre Society in a musical approach to ancient texts.

Ως μια διατλαντική γιορτή τέχνης και μάθησης, το “The Lyre’s Dream” ενώνει τέσσερις χώρες μέσα από τη διαχρονική γλώσσα της μουσικής. Δημιουργημένο από τον Έλληνα συνθέτη, λυριστή και ερευνητή Dr. Νίκο Ξανθούλη, σε συνεργασία με το English Montreal School Board (EMSB), και υπό την καλλιτεχνική διεύθυνση των λυρικών τραγουδιστών Μαρία Διαμαντή και Δημήτρη Ηλία, το έργο φέρνει κοντά τη Sofia Session Orchestra, τη χορωδία EMSB Senior Chorale και την International Lyre Society, σε μια μουσική προσέγγιση αρχαίων κειμένων.

Η παρούσα ερμηνεία παρουσιάζει μια μελοποιημένη απόδοση του Επιταφίου του Σεικίλου, του αρχαιότερου σωζόμενου ολοκληρωμένου μουσικού έργου, αναδεικνύοντας τη βαθιά σχέση μεταξύ ποίησης, μουσικής και έκφρασης στον αρχαίο ελληνικό πολιτισμό.

Μέσα από την καλλιτεχνική πράξη, την εκπαίδευση και τη διεθνή συνεργασία, το “The Lyre’s Dream” εκφράζει τον βασικό στόχο της International Lyre Society: να επαναφέρει την αρχαία ελληνική λύρα ως μια ζωντανή καλλιτεχνική και εκπαιδευτική πρακτική, γεφυρώνοντας το παρελθόν με το παρόν μέσω του ήχου.
