"I miss Zeno now she is at the other camp. When you go take her this and say my heart and her heart are one. Can you bring her with the library next time?"

Here's a few sneaky shots of the past few weeks of sessions - it's been fun and lovely to meet lots of new people and be running such diverse sessions with people of ages and languages.

Thank you Martin!

ECHO mobile library muses - 2025 fundraiser
!!!!!!!!!!FINAL DAY!!!!!!!!!!
We thought we'd save our favourite (it's no secret) til last.
Emma Goldman, the dynamite-eating anarchist. With a nomenclature like that she was clearly doing something right.
We hope you have enjoyed discovering the wonderful ECHO library muses as much as we did researching them.
A massive thank you to all our wonderful illustrators. We are overwhelmed with your kindness and generosity in giving your time and skills to make our muses a reality. We owe you a cup of tea and several slices of cake.
Our library cannot survive without your support. If you can, please donate today to keep us rolling into 2026.

Olympe de Gouges stood against slavery and advocated for equal rights of women at the dawn of the French Revolution. Unfortunately she was too ahead of her time, and quickly became disillusioned with the leaders of the revolution and their lack of attention to women's rights. She was executed in 1793, but her spirit lives on. Vive Olympe!
Thanks once again to Ester for her wonderful skills in service of our library muses.

Ursula le Guin was a strident and unique voice in the world of science fiction. She's also a particular inspiration for our librarians. We love you Ursula!
Thank you Hamish for this splendid representation.

Dolores Ibárruri, or Pasionaria, was the daughter of a miner. She was forced through poverty to leave school at an early age, with her life experiences radicalising her to seek sweeping change to the repressive systems she witnessed. Joining the Communist party she became famous for her impassioned speeches and her most famous cry - No Pasaran (they shall not pass). She fought against Franco's fascism, but was forced to flee Spain, only returning after Franco's death.
With a big thanks to Simon for this delightful illustration

A muse like no other bell hooks really needs no introduction. However let us simply say she has changed the way we all think about so many pressing issues of identity, race, gender, class and love - a true intersectional queen.
Nuno wows us again with his drawing skills :-)
