🤩 5 projects selected for EPICUR Seed Funding 2025!

Following our call we received over 30 project proposals, each involving at least 3 of our partner universities. In total, they brought together more than 270 researchers across the EPICUR alliance.

Congratulations for the 5 selected projects :

🔹Dignity at the End of Life: Thanatology, Ethics, and Spiritual Care in European Perspective, led by Niels Christian Hvidt, with Syddansk Universitet - University of Southern Denmark, Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg and Université de Strasbourg.

🔹 Microfluidics Meets Biomimicry: Plant Cell Wall Artificial Analogues for Next-Generation Biobased Plastics and 3D Parts, led by -Pierre G. Laborie, with Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg, Universität für Bodenkultur Wien, Université de Haute-Alsace - UHA, and Université de Strasbourg.

🔹EPIC_LAB: Co-Creating Sustainable and Just Urban Futures, led by Michael Janoschka, with Karlsruher Institut für Technologie (KIT), Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH), Syddansk Universitet - University of Southern Denmark, and Universiteit van Amsterdam.

🔹Hybrid DNA-Reactive Agents based on Polyoxometalates: Electrochemical Insights, led by Marta Fik-Jaskółka, with Adam Mickiewicz University, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH), and Université de Strasbourg.

🔹Soft Matter for Intelligent Life-like Engineering, led by Edoardo Milana, with Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg, Universität für Bodenkultur Wien, University of Amsterdam / Universiteit van Amsterdam - UHA, and Université de Strasbourg.

We are proud to support a diverse set of interdisciplinary projects addressing key societal, scientific, and technological challenges across Europe.

📢 Being involved with means contributing to the international visibility of our partner universities!

👉 Meet Dimitris Kiskini, a student in Urban Planning and Engineering at Aristotle University Of Thessaloniki and the second Secretary of the EPICUR Student Board.

Like Tachtsi Marina, Dimitri took part in the Sustainability Assessment course coordinated by BOKU University. This course provided him with key insights to develop an integrated and ecological approach to urban planning.

🤝 For Dimitri, being involved in the EPICUR Board means collaborating with students from across and actively contributing to his university’s international representation. In his own words, "the alliance is a powerful tool to support this objective"!

On Friday, 12 December, we had the pleasure of welcoming to Aristotle University of Thessaloniki the Vice President of the University of Strasbourg and EPICUR Strategic Coordinator, Prof. Jean-Marc Planneix.

The working meeting, held in the EPICUR hybrid room at AUTH, was attended by the Vice Rector for Academic Affairs and Development of AUTH, Professor Nikos Maggioros, along with members of the EPICUR working team.
