The Stuttering Advocacy and Support Association (SASA) convened its Executive Committee Meeting to review progress and discuss future priorities. Members reaffirmed their commitment to advancing stuttering awareness, support, and inclusion for people who stutter.

Today marked a powerful and inspiring moment for the Stuttering Advocacy and Support Association (SASA) as members attended a high-level therapy and awareness session featuring two speakers Goncalo Leal and Rodrigo Figueiredo.

The session provided valuable insight into stuttering, its lived experiences, and the importance of building supportive environments for people who stutter. A strong emphasis was placed on the role of parents, educators, and communities in shaping confidence, communication, and self-acceptance.

Goncalo Loel delivered a deeply insightful presentation on stuttering, highlighting both the communication challenges and the emotional and social realities behind it.

SASA is proud to be part of these important global conversations and remains committed to advancing awareness, support, and inclusion for people who stutter in The Gambia.

SASA provides emotional relief by reminding people who stutter that they are not defined by their fluency and they are not alone.
For many, joining SASA is the first time they feel part of something bigger than themselves, a community that truly understands their experiences.

Today, our association held its quarterly executive meeting.
It was a meaningful moment to reflect on our journey, celebrate our impact, and strengthen our commitment to advocating for the rights and inclusion of persons living with stutter.
Together, we continue to raise awareness, support one another, and push for a more inclusive society where everyone is seen, heard, and valued.

Growing up as a young boy who stutters, I never believed my voice would one day help serve my community.

For many years, stuttering affected how I saw myself. I doubted my voice. I was afraid to speak, afraid of judgment, and often felt like my words were not welcome in conversations.

For a long time, I believed that maybe I needed to stop stuttering before I could truly speak up.

But everything changed when I found a community that reminded me of something powerful. My voice matters. I learned that it is okay to stutter and that speaking differently does not make a voice less valuable. That safe space gave me the courage to express myself without fear.

Today, I choose to use my voice to inspire others. I want to give confidence to people who stutter and to anyone who feels afraid to speak. I want to be a role model for those who are still hiding their voices because they think they must be fluent before they can be heard.

You do not need to be fluent to be heard.
You do not need to be fluent to be confident.
You do not need to be fluent to belong.
Speak up anyway.

Yesterday, we had a very successful radio discussion on stuttering on King FM 94.7 on the hard talk program hosted by Mr jallow every Saturday.
The conversation was fruitful, educational, and inspiring, as we spoke about the realities of people who stutter, the importance of inclusion, and the need to create more awareness in our society.
Advocacy for people who stutter in The Gambia continues, and we are grateful for platforms like this that allow these important conversations to happen.
Thank you to everyone who tuned in and supported the discussion. Let’s keep raising awareness.

Join Us Live on King FM This Saturday

The The Gambia Stuttering Association will be live on King FM Radio this Saturday to talk about our work supporting people who stammer (stutter) in The Gambia.

Our organization advocates for people with communication disorders where the natural flow of speech is disrupted. We work to promote understanding, inclusion, and confidence for people who stammer.

During the discussion, we will talk about:
• Raising awareness about stammering
• Promoting inclusion in schools, workplaces, and society
• Standing against bullying and discrimination
• Encouraging people who stammer to remain confident and proud of who they are

Everyone is invited to tune in and call during the program to join the conversation.

Let’s work together to build a society where everyone’s voice is respected.

We're excited to share that SASA - Stuttering Advocacy and Support Association was live at KUWONKU TV. This is our second appearance on a multimedia platform, after our previous feature on THD TV. We're grateful for the opportunity to share our mission and vision, advocating for inclusion and recognition for people who stutter in The Gambia. Thanks to our partners and supporters for making this happen.

Hey team and supporters!
We're excited to share that SASA - Stuttering Advocacy and Support Association was invited to THD TV Gambia and we had a fantastic opportunity to share our mission and message with their audience! 🙏 We had a great discussion about stuttering awareness, advocacy, and the importance of supporting individuals who stutter.

It was a wonderful platform to raise awareness about stuttering and promote acceptance and inclusion. We're grateful to THD TV for having us! And thanking our wonderful representatives Foday M jabia and Sally Jarju for the job well done.
