Africa Liberation Day is a powerful reminder of Africa’s struggle for freedom, unity, dignity, and self-determination. It celebrates the courage and sacrifices of African heroes who fought against colonialism, oppression, and injustice to give future generations the right to live in freedom and hope.

As we celebrate Africa Liberation Day, we must also remember that true liberation is not only political freedom it is also freedom from poverty, illiteracy, hunger, and inequality. Education is one of the greatest tools for transforming Africa and empowering the next generation.

At REEI, we believe that empowering rural children through education is part of Africa’s liberation journey. Every child who gains access to quality education becomes a symbol of hope, progress, and national development. Rural children deserve safe classrooms, learning materials, clean water, and equal opportunities to achieve their dreams.

A liberated Africa is an Africa where:

Our rural children deserve the same quality education as every other child, and it is our responsibility to ensure they receive it.

Too often, children in rural communities face challenges such as lack of learning materials, poor classroom conditions, and limited support. Yet, despite these difficulties, they continue to show determination, hope, and a strong desire to learn.

At REEI, we believe that where a child is born should never determine the quality of education they receive. Every child deserves a safe learning environment, proper resources, and the opportunity to grow and succeed.

We are committed to working tirelessly to support these children, improve their learning conditions, and create opportunities that will help them achieve their dreams. Through collective effort, partnership, and community support, we can ensure that no child is left behind.

Who remembers sweeping the classroom before lessons even started? 😅
Or writing on the board when there was no chalk just to “manage”?

That one teacher that could call your full name from far away and you already knew your day was finished 😭😂

LAMIN SANYANG THE UNSUNG HERO DEVELOPMENT IS AN INCLUSION MEET LAMIN THE CARETAKER

In every community, there is always one person whose quiet work keeps everything moving. At Batelling School, this person is Lamin Sanyang, the devoted caretaker whose presence holds the school together.

Lamin may not stand in front of a classroom to teach, but every child who walks through the school gates benefits from his dedication. He is the first to arrive and often the last to leave.

He sweeps the compounds, clears the surroundings, fixes broken items, arranges classrooms, and makes sure the learning environment is safe for the children.
But what makes Lamin truly special is not just his work it's his heart.

He cares for the school like it is his own home, and he cares for the children like they are his own. Even with limited resources, Lamin does everything possible to make the school environment better. He understands that every clean classroom, every arranged desk, and every small repair helps a child learn with dignity.

Many people overlook the role of caretakers in rural schools, but Lamin reminds us that education is a team effort. Teachers teach, students learn but people like Lamin create the space where learning becomes possible.

His commitment shows that you don't need a title to make an impact.

This was a milestone for REEI 🤍 our first official meeting bringing committed hearts together.

Today, REEI held its first official meeting a powerful step born from lived experiences and a deep commitment to rural education.

We came together as a team, united by one mission: to be a voice for children who walk long distances to school, learn with little or no materials, and face challenges no child should face just to be educated.

This meeting was not just about plans, but about purpose, teamwork, and responsibility. We discussed how to grow REEl, support schools in need, empower parents, and mobilize resources to create real change.

Today marks the beginning of a journey to reach rural communities, restore hope, and ensure that every child, no matter where they are born, has a chance to learn with dignity.

The work has started, and we are committed.

In many parts of our rural communities, education is not just a daily routine it is a daily struggle filled with determination, resilience, and hope.

This image tells a powerful story. A classroom filled with bright young minds, eager to learn, despite the visible challenges around them. The walls are worn, the desks are crowded, and learning materials are limited. Yet, what stands out the most is not what they lack but their willingness to learn.

These children walk long distances under the hot sun just to sit in a classroom like this. They come with dreams in their hearts dreams of becoming teachers, doctors, leaders, and change-makers. But dreams alone are not enough. Without proper learning resources, trained support, and a conducive environment, their potential risks being left unrealized.

At REEI (Rural Education Empowerment Initiative), we believe that every child deserves access to quality education, regardless of where they are born. Education should not be a privilege for a few it is a right for all.

This is why we continue to step in providing learning materials, supporting teachers, and creating opportunities for these children to thrive. A simple exercise book, a pen, or even a supportive presence can make a life-changing difference.

But we cannot do it alone.
