The 20th Executive Council extends its heartfelt appreciation to Yusupha Jallow, Sainy Manneh, and Alieu J. Conteh for representing our beloved association in the recently concluded Vice Counsellor’s National Debate and Public Speaking Championship (VCNC).

It is such a privilege and honor to have such vibrant and selfless individuals who have dedicated their valuable time, and resources to passionately represent our voice through an intellectual discourse. This serves as a testament to their love, and loyalty to our beloved Association and for that, we are forever grateful.

Ultimately, we urge all the students of Mama SoSHSA to join us in celebrating these brilliant minds whose names will forever be remembered in the history books of our dear Association. Thank you for your service!

SoSHSA SET THE PACE AT VCNC’2026

As the 2026 Vice Chancellor’s National Debate and Public Speaking Championship (VCNC) commenced this past weekend, the Mighty SoSHSA participants proved their superiority, leading the University category with 14 points.

As the competition continues to the semi-final stage, Yusupha Jallow and Sainey Manneh of SoSHSA have brilliantly demonstrated their debating prowess.

The council extends its deep appreciation and gratitude to the duo for their unwavering commitment and dedication to raising the flag of SoSHSA higher. Therefore, we encourage all SoSHSA students to rally behind our representatives as we navigate each stage.

SAS SPORTS DAY – COMING SOON

The School of Arts and Sciences proudly informs It’s students and the general university community that preparations are underway for the much-anticipated SAS Sports Day, a customary and vibrant event on the SAS calendar.

This annual gathering serves as a platform to promote unity, teamwork, and healthy competition among students of SAS through sports, while also fostering stronger bonds within the brotherly Faculties. The Sports Day will feature a variety of exciting sporting activities, showcasing the energy, talent, and passion that define the SAS community.

As always, the event promises an atmosphere filled with enthusiasm, entertainment, and unforgettable moments for participants and spectators alike.

With preparations already in motion, this year’s edition is expected to deliver an even more engaging and memorable experience for both participants and supporters.

UTGSU MOURNS THE DEMISE OF ANTHA HYDARA

Issued: March 28th, 2026

The University of The Gambia Students’ Union (UTGSU) has learned with profound sadness of the passing of Antha Hydara, a 200-level student pursuing Human Resources Management at the School of Business and Public Administration.

Ms. Hydara reportedly lost her life in a tragic accident that occurred this afternoon while she was returning home from the university. Her untimely passing has left the university community in shock and deep sorrow.

On behalf of the entire student body, the Union extends its heartfelt condolences to her family, friends, classmates, and the School of Business and Public Administration during this difficult time.

The UTGSU joins the university community in mourning this painful loss and prays for strength and comfort for all those affected.

May her soul rest in perfect peace.

SoSHSA: TRAINING ON REFERENCING AND CITATION

The 20th Executive Council, through the Education and Research Ministry, is pleased to invite all students to the upcoming Training on Referencing and Citation scheduled for Wednesday, 1st April 2026 at the School of Arts and Sciences, Faraba Campus.

As referencing and citation are an integral part of academia, the training is designed to equip students with the requisite knowledge to navigate academic writing. This session will delve into the rules that govern academic writing and most importantly how to give credit to scholars when referencing their work.

The 20th Executive Council encourages all students to attend this important training to strengthen their academic writing and ensure academic integrity.
