On Sunday, August 18, the GTU concluded the training of HR Focal Persons from the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, The Gambia and the Regional Chairpersons of the Union held at the Regional Education Directorate 4, Mansakonko.
The training meant to equip the participants with knowledge and understanding of the Gambia's Public Service Regulations, ended with participants hailing the significance of the training.
Officials from the Ministry's HR Directorate who served as facilitators of the training recognized the need to provide such training to ministry officials who directly deal with teachers and other education sector employees.
With such training, the Union is optimistic that attendant issues that usually affect members will be addressed systematically.
The final day also featured a presentation on the products and services offered by the Gambia Teachers' Union Cooperative Credit Union. The presentation led by the CEO, Dawda Kujabi, provided a platform for participants to raise concerns from members on some of the services the CCU offers.
