Special IFTAR and leadership transition

Our Masroor Inspiring Young Stars - IYS Chapter on the 27th February 2026, successfully staged its handing-over ceremony at the IYS Sustainable Center.

The ceremony commenced with beautiful recitations from the Holy Qur’an, setting a spiritual and reflective tone for the occasion. The event was marked by a colorful and symbolic gathering where outgoing and incoming executives came together to formally transition leadership. Words of appreciation, gratitude, and commitment were shared as responsibilities were officially handed over, signifying continuity and growth within the chapter.

The program was attended by members of the Masroor IYS Chapter as well as executive leaders from the Inspiring Young Stars organization.

The ceremony concluded with the serving of Iftar to attendees, strengthening unity and fellowship among members.

The successful transition reflects maturity, unity, and the strong leadership culture being nurtured within the organization.

RAMADAN • LENT • INDEPENDENCE DAY
18th February 2026 – A Historic Convergence

Today is not just another date on the calendar. It is a powerful moment of unity for The Gambia and for the world.

On this remarkable day, we witness:

🌙 The beginning of Ramadan 2026, a sacred month of discipline, prayer, generosity, and spiritual renewal for Muslims across our nation.
✝🏾 The start of Lent, a season of reflection, sacrifice, and transformation for Christians.
🇬🇲 And the celebration of our Independence Day, marking our proud journey since 1965.

This rare convergence of faith and nationhood reminds us of what truly defines us as Gambians:
Peaceful coexistence. Religious harmony. Shared humanity.

Ramadan calls us to compassion.
Lent calls us to reflection.
Independence calls us to responsibility.

As a nation, we are united not by uniformity, but by mutual respect. In our mosques, in our churches, and in our communities, we demonstrate to the world that diversity is strength.

CELEBRATING 5 YEARS OF IMPACT —
ST. PETER’S IYS Chapter

12th February, 2026

Yesterday, we proudly celebrated a historic milestone Five (5) Years of the St. Peter’s Inspiring Young Stars - IYS Chapter.

St. Peter’s holds a very special place in our journey. It was the first-ever IYS chapter established and officially launched, marking the beginning of our satellite chapter movement across The Gambia. What began at St. Peter’s became the foundation upon which many other chapters were built.

This anniversary is therefore not just a chapter celebration, it is a celebration of a legacy. A celebration of courage. A celebration of pioneering leadership.

Over the past five years, the St. Peter’s IYS Chapter has demonstrated:

• Strong leadership and discipline
• Commitment to education and talent development
• Active community service and youth advocacy
• Creativity, teamwork, and resilience

They opened the door. Others followed.

Yesterday’s celebration was filled with joy, pride, and reflection. Members came together to celebrate the journey, the impact, and the growth, sharing cake, laughter, unity, and appreciation for how far the chapter has come. It was a moment of happiness, gratitude, and renewed commitment.

At the organizational level, we extend our deepest congratulations to:

NUSRAT IYS Chapter FIELD TRIP – A DAY OF LEARNING, DISCOVERY, CULTURE & CONNECTION

Yesterday was nothing short of transformational for Our Nusrat Inspiring Young Stars - IYS Chapter

Our Academic Field Exposition took us through powerful spaces of learning from sustainable agriculture and environmental exploration to culture, heritage, and reflection.

MyFarm - Africa StartUp We explored innovative farming systems that exposed our students to sustainable agricultural practices and climate-smart solutions. Seeing agriculture beyond textbooks touching, observing, asking questions made the experience real and impactful.

From there, we visited the reptile farm in Kartong, where our members learned about biodiversity, reptiles, snakes, and the importance of protecting our ecosystems. It was a moment of curiosity, courage, and environmental awareness.

A major highlight of the day was our visit to the Tanji Village Museum, a powerful local heritage site that showcases how Gambians lived in earlier generations. The museum highlights local history, tradition local home, cultural tools, lifestyle practices, and stories of community living. Our young stars gained a deeper appreciation of our people and how our ancestors lived with resilience, simplicity, and cultural pride.

After a long day our bus driver took the team to the beach side, It was a beautiful moment of unity, sitting together, reflecting on a day filled with discovery, sharing food and drinks, enjoying laughter, and celebrating the bonds that make IYS a family. It was not just relaxation, it was intentional reflection, appreciating knowledge gained, friendships strengthened, and memories created.

This field trip was more than an outing.
It was experiential learning.
It was cultural awakening.
It was environmental education.
It was leadership in motion.

At Inspiring Young Stars (IYS), we believe that when young people experience the world firsthand, they begin to see themselves as change-makers, innovators, and custodians of culture and sustainability.

Donation Appeal for Ramadan Iftar
True giving is not about how much we have, but how much love we share.

Ramadan reminds us to pause, reflect, and look out for one another. This season, Inspiring Young Stars is reaching out to support people who face Ramadan with limited means families struggling to put food on the table, patients in hospitals, inmates, and individuals returning home after long days of work and school.

Through our Ramadan Iftar activities and conference, we aim to provide meals, food baskets, and moments of dignity to those who need them most. Each contribution, no matter the size, helps turn fasting into a shared experience of care and community.

This Ramadan, let your kindness speak quietly but powerfully. Together, we can make every iftar count.

NEW CHAPTER LAUNCH

Today, we proudly launched the NEMA Kunku Radville Upper & Senior Secondary School Inspiring Young Stars (IYS) Chapter, strengthening our national movement for youth leadership and community transformation.

Through this chapter, young stars will engage in leadership development, academic excellence, community service, service learning, and youth empowerment, building the skills, confidence, and values needed to lead positive change.
