Hoping today’s A level results, whichever they may be, mark the beginning of a wonderful future for all our young Gibraltar students. Thank you all, and your teachers and support staff for the hard work. And if you didn’t do A levels, best wishes to you too. The future calls regardless.

A real pleasure to meet the young representatives of the Young Enterprise ‘Connect’ team to discuss their project to promote inclusivity and diversity in our community. I’m really looking forward to seeing the final version of their thought-provoking and beautifully illustrated book. I also took the opportunity to talk to these Year 12 students about their school work and their aspirations. They were part of the first intake in our co-ed Secondaries, so I felt particularly responsible for their journey so far! Happily, and as expected, they were all very pleased with their educational journey. Talking to young people is so inspiring! Best of luck to you all, Sarah, Natalia, Anna and Dominic, and to all your team!

Great work is being done by Childline Gibraltar. I met with them yesterday at the Department of Education with members of the team. We had a wide ranging discussion on issues affecting our children, and it was clear that our philosophy and strategy, making the child the centre of whatever do, are perfectly aligned. We will continue to work ever closer together to support the children, in school and outside school, because they deserve it and because we are responsible for who they become.

I always enjoy my discussions with the Head Students of our three secondaries, the Gibraltar College, Bayside and Westside. They keep me in touch with what's most important in Education - the young Learners. This group is a significant one for many reasons. They are Gibraltar's last single-gender intake into Secondary, the last Year 8 intake, the last to have spent a year in the old school buildings, and they went through Covid lockdowns at a critical time in their learning journey.
We spoke about all of this, and about their views on how to improve our education system further, perhaps looking away from the traditional exam-based system.
We also spoke about their personal plans, dreams and aspirations.
As ever, it was really inspiring, and it reminded me yet again of how privileged those of us who work in Education are.
These young people have clearly benefitted from the results of our Revolution in Education. They convinced me, as if I needed convincing, that the Revolution must continue.

University students returning to Gibraltar for festive period to be offered Booster
vaccine
The Minister for Health is pleased to announce that special arrangements are being made for all
eligible university students to be offered their COVID-19 booster vaccine on their return to
Gibraltar for the Christmas period.
Returning students are asked to register their interest as soon as possible by completing the
following form: https://www.gha.gi/booster-registration-for-university-students/ so that they can be accommodated while in Gibraltar.
The Minister for Health, the Hon Samantha Sacramento, said: With the Booster vaccine now being offered to all those aged 16 and over, I am very pleased that we will also be able to offer this to all of our students currently studying abroad, but who are returning home for the Christmas period. I would like to please ask that students complete their registration form as soon as possible so that the amazing team at the vaccination centre can facilitate their appointment during their time in Gibraltar. This will help us in our fight against COVID-19 which is important during the festive period and also to keep them safe once they return to university in the New Year.
