Next workshop: Saturday 22nd Feb 10.30am

Dear Parents,

This week is our penultimate session….please note our last workshop will be Saturday 1st March, from then there will be no Creative Works until after the summer break. Here’s what’s in store this week:

This week’s drama session similarly to last, will focus on a recap of all our improvisation work, we will be revisiting the groups favourite and most fun exercises. There will be lots of imaginative storylines and the children will be thinking on the spot as to which direction the tales may take, this usually brings the most unexpected and often hilarious results! We can’t wait :] Both groups will be asked to pick their favourite exercise and game-the session will centre around these…

In music we will be focusing on movement and dance, we will have some fun warm up games followed by a group tag game set to some popular chart tracks.

In arts and craft this week we will be making some ‘clothes peg’ animals :]

Herewith our weekly newsletter for this week’s workshop….

This week’s drama session will focus on a recap of all our improvisation games, as we are going to be out of action for a while and so we will be revisiting the groups favourite and most fun exercises over the next few sessions. We will be having some sing-a-long time in music accompanied by the guitar, again we will be led by the group in so far as song choice :]

In arts and craft this week we will be using up all of our collected card, scrap material, paper, crepe, tissue etc to produce some decorative name signs for the children’s bedrooms…..lots of cutting, gluing, and sticking will be the order of the day.

It’s that time of the week again….Herewith our weekly newsletter with what’s in store at this weeks workshop…

In drama this week both groups will be concentrating on some sensory exercises….we will be using touch, smell and sound to identify different objects, the groups will then be split into pairs and will have to guide each other through a series of obstacles. We will discuss how our other senses come into play when you are blindfolded, and how we rely on visual cues and aids much more than we realise :]

This weeks music class will centre around percussion…we will clap, shake, and play along to 3 different beats testing the children’s ability to stay in time to the music and then test how to recognise the 3 styles.

In arts and craft we will be preparing for Valentines day….we will be making some cards and special treats for the ppl we love

Hi all,

This coming Saturday marks the end of January blues and the start of the Chinese new year :] Herewith what’s in store at this week’s workshop…..

Both the younger and older groups will continue our work from last week in drama….two person environment, one word story, physical drama shapes, and our ‘emoticons’ game. The focus is on creative characterisation and really allows the children to illustrate how they can use body language to convey a msg. In music we will be singing along to our echo and call ‘orange song’ :]

To mark the Chinese new year we will be making our own puppets….2014 is the year of the horse and so we will be cutting, gluing and sticking to create some fab equestrian based craft :D

Next workshop: 25th Jan 10.30am

Herewith our weekly newsletter…

First and foremost we need to let you all know that we will unfortunately be ceasing our workshops from the 1st March this year :( we will be taking a prolonged break over the spring/summer months (there is a baby arriving!) with a view to return in September. Our last session will therefore be on Saturday 1st March….only 6 weeks’ time...boooo :(

On a happier note…here’s what’s in store at this weeks session!

In drama we will focus on some creative character work, the older group will pick an ‘emotion’ from a hat and then will be asked to relay this without speaking to the group….will they be ‘frustrated, eager, peaceful, energetic, embarrassed, nervous or confident’!? We will then move onto a ‘two person environment’ exercise which should challenge the groups interaction with each other. The younger group will be playing ‘change up artist’ testing their observation skills, as well as blind mans buff, we will then focus on an ‘alphabet conversation’ as a group.

In music we will be playing some movement and dancing games this week.

In the art room we will be upcycling….using all of our collected cereal boxes and bits of card board we will be making some framed self portraits :]

Great to see our regular faces and some new last week :) herewith what’s in store at this weeks workshop…..

Drama this week will see the older group begin work on a ‘polished improvisation’ piece….the group will be brainstorming ideas for a story line and working through characterisation exercises focusing on speech and body language. The younger group will take a look at ‘cops and robbers’ we will have a story time followed by a themed improve session…..

In music this week we will be looking at rhythm using our percussion box.

In arts and craft we will be making our very own ‘minions’ using paint, craft card and recycled toilet paper rolls

Next workshop: this Saturday 11th Jan @ 10.30am

First and foremost Happy New Year 2014 to you all :D Looking forward to getting back to our weekly workshops and can’t wait to see you all this Saturday! Here’s what’s in store:

In drama this week we will have a catch up about what everyone has been doing during the break and the different ways in which we celebrate festivals such as Christmas, Hanukah, Diwali etc. Our main focus of the session will be on imagination. The older group will undertake a creativity exercise centred on charades techniques, the younger group will play the two word story game and then act out the results.

Messy craft on the cards this week! Whether you went to casemates to watch the fireworks or not (it may have been a bit late for some of our members) you most certainly heard them J and this week we will be recreating the magic using two different painting methods. We will be making our own stamps using pipe cleaners and using straws to blow paint the explosions….

Hi all, this wks session is cancelled :( we will miss saying happy christmas to all the kids and so please pass on the msg that we will be thinking of you all, hoping that everyone gets what they wished for and has a fabulously Happy Christmas!

Hi all, just received a phone call telling us that our rooms will not be available this wkend at Kings bastion :(

Massively upset is an understatement....not looking like there is anything we can do at such short notice other than cancel this weeks session.

We will of course, phone all parents concerned and hope that the children are not too disappointed....
